About Me

I'm loved yet hated, free yet unfree... thus i have peace and purpose, simultaneously.
I'm growing like everyone else and I enjoy being around people who know that, accept it and love it. I try to follow my heart daily and see where, what and who it brings me.
I feel closest to god when I'm articulating what's in my heart.
I don't really understand the concept of fame, I stay away from people who are proud to be "community activists" and who don't know how to talk through their eyes. I find my friends among the blessed ones in God's eyes, like "peace-makers" and the "poor."
I try and take people who ask for change out to dinner.
I have trouble smiling + laughing around people who claim the kingdom yet aren't willing to give up their "riches" to get through the eye of the needle. And I like to smile and laugh, so that's no good for me.
What I build must be fundamentally different.
Hakuna matata watu wangu. Kila kitu kita wa sawa.

Mmmmm... quotes!
Quotes are like proverbs. Proverbs are like wisdom. Wisdom is like words from the ancestors. Words from the ancestors are like guidance. Guidance is like good. Good is like God.
You might find God in a quote:

(i add new joints all the time)
"...Love the earth, sun and the animals, despise riches, give alms to everyone that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgance towards people...re-examine all you have ever been taught in school or church or in any book, dismiss what insults your very soul, and your very flesh shall become a great poem..."
(walt whitman)
"What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?"
"It's no great trick to make a lot of money, if all you want is to make a lot of money."
(Mr Bernstein in Citizen Kane)
"The fear of loss is the path to the darkside... Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to loose."
(yoda!)
"Oprah is full of shit. Nobody has the courage to say that Oprah is full of shit. She's not some beneficent person, she's just a person capable of doing incredible good, exposing people to reading, exposing people to Maya Angelou and Toni Morrison, or she can just be a dumb bitch shitting on rap, shitting on poor black people, it's possible to be both things at once."
(killer mike)
"Oh, what a rat race."
(bob nesta)
"Leave me alone, I've got to read. I've got to catch up with the remembrance of the past!"
(montag in 'fahrenheit 451')
"We have all been confused between being 'a great success' like Tavis, Oprah or Cosby, and being 'a great person' like Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Jr., Paul Robeson, Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth, Fannie Lou Hamer, Rosa Parks, etc. People in the latter category are usually not rich or, in the case of Robeson, have been willing to forgo wealth - being 'a great success' - in order to be 'a great person.'"
"I call my brother sun cause he shines like one."
(method man)
"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."
(the buddah)
"If thou desire the love of God and man, be humble, for the proud heart, as it loves none but itself, is beloved of none but itself. Humility enforces where neither virtue, nor strength, nor reason can prevail."
“You have a choice of one of two things when you're a professional journalist,” he said, “move up the ladder or do what others before me have done, and that is sacrifice for the greater good, for the greatest number. And that's what's driven my decisions.”
(ben gray)
"Vulnerability is power."
(saul williams)
"Lettuce will kill a doubter, faster than a burger will kill a believer."
(krs-one)
"You learn to swim in the water not in the library."
(paulo freire)
"Negroes are not suffering from persecution they are suffering from nothingness."
(gertrude stein)
"Vanity... my favorite sin."
(pacino)
