About Me
Colorblind Cutthroats was founded by none other than Diablo of the infamous Colorblind Crew. Musically, CBC's sound lies somewhere between the realms of three specific genres, and three genres which have never collided as such on any other occasion. Namely;Hardcore- An offshoot of the American punk rock movement of the eighties, known for its extremely violent reputation in so far as the type of people involved, the typical behavior at shows, the music itself and the style of dancing.Oi!- also known by the name "street punk", Oi is a rowdier, more violent version of the original British punk rock movement, and could accurately be described as hooligan punk. Oi emerged as a harder form of punk which appealed to working-class youth, gang members, Skinheads, and those seeking to truly live out the often maniacal lyrics found in punk rock.Hip hop- Most should a have a basic understanding of the worlds most popular art form by now.On the political and street side, CBC is composed of active participants in the Anti-racist Skinhead movement, which is also known as the "Traditional" Skinhead movement. While unknown by most people, the original Skinhead movement began with Jamaican immigrants to England in the sixties, who brought their "rude boy" style with them, and were first embraced by a subculture then prevalent in the UK known as "hard mods", "hooligan mods", or "gang mods", thus named for their involvement in the European football gang scene. These two distinct groups became joined under the moniker of "Skinheads", as early as 1965. This was the first and only style to have ever been created by both white and black youth equally. It wasn't until the seventies that the commonly known racist, or white power variant of the Skinhead movement emerged, and became more well-known than its predecessor.Colorblind Cutthroats is a band first, and a view into the Anti-racist Skinhead scene second. We wear our politics on our sleeve, yet we encourage our opponents to listen to our music and weigh the arguments posed from an unbiased perspective. Racial politics are quite complex, and perspective has much to do with ones belief structure. CBC as a band and a crew embody the principle of unity. South Florida pioneered the Skinhead Hip Hop movement, CBC is its full potential realized. If Skinheads of any political persuasion, along with hip hop fans who tend to shun all things rock, are able to enjoy a form of music which is truly a centerground, equally involving both of their individual styles, then Colorblind Cutthroats has met its mark, and the Skinhead movement has come full circle...
