Mekita Faiye Davis, an actress, filmmaker, author, motivational speaker is a proud Chicago native. She holds three academic degrees in engineering including a B.S. from Illinois Institute of Technology, as well as a M.S. and Ph.D. from Georgia Institute of Technology. A Lucent Fellow and Motorola Fellow, Mekita has accomplished over 20 publications in her field and received numerous awards for her accomplishments including “National Graduate Student of the Year.â€
In addition to dedicating countless hours in the lab towards finishing her thesis, Mekita was crowned Miss Bovanti/V-103 of Atlanta. During that time she also studied at the Alliance Theatre. Her decision to turn down a tenure-track position at a university propelled her move to Los Angeles. Her acting career thus far includes work in films, a series of commercials a recent episode of ABC’s General Hospital, and feature film "Parasomnia".Her most recent endeavor as a producer includes the Feature “Love…& Other 4 Letter Words†starring Flex Alexander (One on One), Essence Atkins (Half & Half), and Tangi Miller (Felicity) and the psychological thriller "Maid to Kill". Mekita’s writing credits include co-authoring a book entitled “Unleash the Greatness Within You†with best-selling author Les Brown and recently finishing her first screenplay, “SHORTlee EVER AFTERâ€.
