ACHTUNG! Jacob is no longer a member of Vedalia. We are looking to hire on another guitarist to take his spot. Here are some qualifications in case you are interested:
- Should like indie rock
- Have own equipment (at least, to practice with)
- Fairly skilled
- singing ability is a plus
- be able to practice at least once a week (usually Sunday)
- If you're a girl who can sing and play, that is a major plus
This band operates out of a two room apartment in Boulder. Sometimes we practice in a basement in Denver...cos that's were all the big stuff is.
We were created by Jon Swihart and Charlie Ballas during their freshman years at the University of Colorado at Boulder where we all still manage to get passing grades. For the first year, the band was only a twopiece, and not really a band at all, but we play alot of the songs written during that time period, so we'll just say the whole thing started back then. No one will be the wiser.
Jon and Charlie played various open mics around campus and Boulder with musician friends such as Mike Bedard of the recently disbanded "Overtone," and eventual drummer, EJ Posselius. The 2006 school year marked the addition of Gina Calo and Jacob Wood, bringing the band up to four members sans drummer. The band played under various names such as "Fools of the Apocalypse" and "Sexual Healing," a name which stuck much longer than it ought to have.
In the fall of 2006, EJ officially joined the band. It was around that time that the name "Vedalia" was picked out of the pages of a dictionary, and Vedalia as you know it came into true existence.
We play shows in Boulder and dream of quitting school to play indie rock. We are attempting to come out with some sort of EP or album, but progress is slow. All the songs on this site are creations of Jon Swihart and Charlie Ballas. We hope to have the other members performing on any official compilations.
We are currently hiring for the following positions: Guitarist, Roadie, Groupie, Venture Capitalist
