look around you...is this how you wanted it to be?

About Me

I am LaiLoKeN, better known to most simply as Marc Shuttle. I'm 21, and from Romford, Essex, England. I'vebeen a musician for over 6 years now - first picking up the guitar at the tender age of 14, although I'd played a small bit of keyboard when I was younger. Music has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember - being a guitarist, standing onstage, and performing to crowds night-in night-out seemed like the greatest thing ever, and it still does.

[ Equipment ]
My equipment currently includes:
[ NEW ] ESP LTD EX50 Explorer - this is *officially* the sexiest piece of modern engineering that I've ever had the pleasure to lay my hands on! [ NEW ]
Epiphone Explorer with Seymour Duncan Dimebucker pickup fitted at bridge
Ibanez RG7321 7-String Electric Guitar
Marshall VS100R Amplifier
Yamaha 5-String Bass
Squier by Fender Acoustic Guitar
Behringer 'V-Amp 2' Amp Simulator
Behringer 'Bass V-Amp' Amp Simulator
I also have an Epiphone Les Paul Studio II, but unfortunatly it has a broken neck (ouch!). Thankfully, my good friend and guitar technician Brian is fixing it for me, so hopefully it'll be back in my hands, fixed, and better than ever soon!

[ BANDS ]

[ Stonemunki ]
Stonemunki is a 5-piece Rap-Metal band, for which I play guitar (mainly rhythm, although the occassional lead part does crop up) and perform vocals (hard growls & screams). It's hard to describe what we sound like, to check out our website at www.stonemunki.com and our MySpace at www.myspace.com/stonemunki .
My main influences in this band include Metallica, Pantera, Devildriver and Black Label Society.

[ Sludge Factory ]
Sludge Factory is a grunge-act in the vein of Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam and Mudhoney. We are a 3-piece act, and I perform bass guitar and the occassional vocals. We formed at Havering College, where we all study, and are hoping to take this idea a lot further as we enter our second year! Check out our MySpace at www.myspace.com/sludgefactoryuk .

[ THE FUTURE ]

In the near future, I am hoping to gain some session work as a bass player, and if anybody out there is looking for a session bassist, I'm your man! I'm reliable, can be very creative and always keep the bigger picture in mind when putting the bass part to any song. I'm a quick worker with an open mind, and a dedication to get the job done.

I'm also extremely interested in listening to classical, jazz and blues; aswell as hip-hop, rap and experimental electronic genres, but unfortunatly don't have an extensive enough library to really credit any artists except for those already listed as influences.

Two of my main musical heroes are Layne Staley, the late Alice in Chains frontman, who bared his soul to the world through his lyrics, and whose voice never failed to draw empathy from his audience. The other is James Hetfield, frontman of Metallica, and in my opinion the TIGHTEST rhythm guitarist on the planet. His combination of beard, long-hair and an Explorer is second to none.
Sounds Like: With so many different tunes and influences, each song sounds very different, and I don't fit into one genre. However, listen to the tunes, and I'm sure you'll find things to compare each one to.
