Kevin Chong

Kevin Chong, better known as "Palito", was born May 14, 1991. As a kid, he remembers his father playing the campana along to salsa/mambo tracks in the 90's. His father, being one of his biggest musical influences, taught him to follow along to the beat of the clave, essentially giving him the feel of music and understanding the rhythm. At the age of 9 he began to have a passion for music and heavil involved him self in Rios De Agua Viva Music School for drums and percussion, being taught by Edwin Santos and then advanced to Gerson Reyes a year later. Continuing with Gerson Reyes for a short time, he was able to quickly learn rhythms such as Songo, Cumbia, Mambo, Rumba, Timba, Funk, Disco, Gospel and other afro-carribean and afro-cuban rhythms. He gigs from time to time at different churches around the San Bernandino, Riverside area. In mid '07, he joined the ministry "Miracles & Wonders Ministry", where he serves as musical director along with Juan Villalobos, president of the ministry. Some individuals that have led to his musical development personally, and have influenced him greatly are Angel Solorzano, German Chong, Javier Coronel Jr., Gerson Reyes, Daniel Diaz (Epoca), Eddie G., Ernesto Valenzuela, Daniel Vera, and David "La Mole" Ortiz from Puerto Rico. Currently, he is serving as Sunday afternoon drummer for Lifeline Community Fellowship Church at 3:00pm under Pastor Moses K. Ndereva in Buena Park, CA. He is also looking for a church to be hired as a drummer or percussionist for weekdays and Sunday mornings. He earnestly hopes that you may be able to feel the holy and magnified presence of God, not only through the music, but through his character and willingness to serve.
