Recognised by many artists as one of the most innovative unsigned Urban music composer/ producer in the UK, Red has for many years mastered his remarkable and unique skill and is now about to embark on a one-way trip to charts supremacy.
His recent collaboration with gifted producer and friend J–Vybe promises to be a musical electroshock for 2008. Under the unifying trademark “Revybeâ€, the two producers are at last bringing their fervour to the public light through the consecration of original sound, music and song writing.
BACKGROUNDBorn in Lyon, France in the late 70's, and from Moroccan descent, Redouane Kouiden (AKA RED), spent most of his teenage years in the projects of Minguettes, Dj-ing a wide variety of music at parties and local events. His passion for music production was revealed later, almost by accident, after trying out a demo music software picked up with a magazine. Since then, his obsession with sound creation went from strength to strength. At the age of 15, Red made his first beats, out of sounds designed from scratch, using an audio wave editor. The fine results were largely influenced by the growing Teckno scene which took over France in the Mid 90’s.He soon crossed the path of what were to become his dearest companions for many years: The mighty Roland mc303 Groovebox and a pocket version of the mythical AKAI S2000 sampler. Avid adept of synthesisers, he began experimenting with sounds and melodies, tweaking and switching patches, laying up drums and re-sampling his own compositions. The result was a truly unique and harmonious blend of styles sometimes hard to describe but not short of spirit. In the late 90’s, He expanded and perfected his music making skills by producing backing tracks for various local French Hip Hop and Ragga artists before leaving the country for the UK in September 2000.RECENT WORKWhile studying for a degree in Business at Coventry University UK, Red continued his musical exploration infiltrating the UK garage and Hip Hop scene. He soon met talented rappers Frenzy, Projay and Lexeye (Infinite Dark) and produced university dance floor shakers: “in da clubâ€, and “what you waiting forâ€.By 2005, Red‘s indisputable production skills were considered a major advantage for most aspiring artists in the Midlands and London. Ex Infinite dark rappers Projay and Lexeye did not wait long before soliciting Red’s magical touch again but this time for something rather different: A bold attempt to fuse Hip Hop with the ever more popular Banghra music.Taking on board the up and coming British Asian lead Singer, Sunny J, the trio now known as Offlicence, elegantly rode along Red’s powerful mixtures to produce a ground-breaking Album: Desilution (Due for re-launch in the first quarter of 2008). Brought to life in collaboration with equally talented producer J -Vybe, the record also features world famous Apache Indian, much-admired Ragga artist Cheshire cat, New York’s Laddibath and many more…Red’s encounter with J-Vybe during the making of Desillution was an eye opener, which soon led to another joint production master piece: The “Dancing kills (it)†mix tape, featuring London’s Ragga Twinz, rapper G.O.P (Queens, NY), rising star singer Jay Fuller (“ Who’s that girlâ€) and uncompromising rapper Stretch (Ex C.O.V member)Following a string of successful collaborations, the two unsigned super producers officially declared the birth of REVYBE in January 2008.
