When, Where, Why and how did it all begin?
Some say it was in San Francisco in 1969, others claim it was in 2006 in a garage somewhere in West Cork, many claim it had already happened, just in a different form, and still more claim it happened as an act of God. What we do know however is that Mannikin happened with aBANG!

They started with the closer corners of the universe, but quickly began to spread out to such farther reaches as Cork's Cyprus avenue and Cruiscin Lan, Fred Zepellin's and UCC as well as many other venues around county Cork.

Dublin wasn't spared either, and is only beginning to experience the unique blend of distortion and synth, rhythm and soul, and frankly ball breaking sonic energy that is produced by Mannikin.

The carbon based (yet contrastly different) life forms coming together under the umbrella of this rock collective are:

Noel Maguire: lead vocals, guitars, bass
Alfons Peeters: drums + percussion (he ain't never getting a microphone!)
Brian Casey: guitars, synthesisers, (general sonic perversions)

Another way of telling this story would be that mannikin are three guys writing, recording and playing the music they like, in hope that someone else might like it too.

Music:

Band Website: http://mannikin.bebo.com
Band Members: Noel "the voice" Maguire
Alfons "the groove" Peeters,
Brian "the shred" Casey
Influences:

the 'North Atlantic drift', prevalent offshore south westerly antitrade winds, a high mean monthly average of rainfall and a low temperature range between winter and summer months (purely climatic influences!).

on the musical side of things mannikin are influenced by a bit of this a bit of that - most music of the rocking and rolling variety, Ukranian folk music and the sounds of nature.

in more simple terms, artists like nirvana, Oscar Peterson, interpol, the smashing pumpkins, bush, u2, Joe Pass, led zepellin, Jeff Buckley, the beatles, keela, Bob Marley & the Wailers, Bob Dylan, kings of leon, Rodrigo Y Gabriella, Sigur Ros, James Brown, Jimi Hendrix, Rory Gallagher, Leonard Cohen, Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, Placebo, Dream Theater, Steve Vai, jz, Jason Becker, Joe Satriani, oasis, radiohead, snowpatrol, Thin Lizzy, Weezer, ludacris.... the list could go on for ever!

Sounds Like: See our list of dates and come hear for yourself!
More dates tbc

Mannikin sound like guys who came together with the best of intensions and a nonpareil purpose of making good old fashioned rock music blended with a hint of groove, a splash of synthesiser and seasoned with rich harmony!

mannikin have a wide ranging sound from expansive more pop orientated tunes, to powerful grunge songs. they're sound is an evolution.

They're song writing consists of going with what ever feels good to play which on a given day could see them playing a funk pop type song such as isadora or playing a high octane grunge tune like discovery of one, and everything in between!

if it feels right, play it
