About Me

(kemia, alisha & teshia)
Sexy, sophisticated and soulful are just a few words that describe the new female singing sensation Ménage. Hailing from the DC/MD/VA area Kemia, Alisha, and Teisha have been creating quite a buzz for themselves in the Nation's Capitol.
The first thing that raises an eyebrow or two is the group's name, Ménage.
"So many people automatically give the word Ménage a sexual connotation. If people really do their research, they'll find out that Ménage, is French for 'Household', and Ménage a trois is literally defined as 'Household of 3'. We are a trio, and we are all family," states Alisha, the trio's sultry alto. "It's also the root of the word menagerie, which means an exotic or diverse group of people or things. And I think we're pretty exotic!" she adds with a laugh.
All three R&B beauties have been singing and modeling individually for years. "All three of us have great voices. We are all unique, and we realized that we're stronger together. It's about giving the people what they need, and right now the people need a group!" says Kemia, the group's pretty soprano.
Ménage has accomplished a lot in such little time. After being together for only a few months, the three divas lit up the stage at DC's "Zanzibar on the Waterfront" performing their then single "Get It On". Many in the audience could not believe it was their first performance together. "They looked so comfortable on stage." stated one onlooker from the front row. "You would never guess this was their first time performing, they looked so natural!"
Ménage is managed by Street Syndicate Music Group, a company based out of Baltimore, MD. "I've never managed a more talented group of young ladies" states Script, co-founder of Syndicate. "I've always said it's more than just vocal ability. It's dedication, work ethic and personal drive that breaks an artist! These girls have all that, plus more. Their dedication inspires me and makes me work that much harder!"
Currently, the ladies are sweating it up perfecting their stage show for many upcoming events in the fall/winter. In addition they are working very hard in the studio on their first CD with premier production company "Infinite Beats" and have even had their single "All About Me" played on 93.9 WKYS in DC. "All About Me" hit the airwaves September 5th, 2006 premiering on the popular show "Metro Bangers" hosted by Two (II) Face the Wild Boy, a very well known radio personality of the DC metropolitan area.
During this segment, the station played the song and allowed listeners to call in and leave feed back with either a "Kiss or Diss". "At first we were nervous about the song going on Metro Bangers, because DC tells it like it is. If they don't like something- they let it be known." says Teisha with a laugh. However, the segment proved to be a glorious moment for Ménage as out of 6 callers, all 'kissed' the single- a very rare accomplishment for local talent. "The phones were still lighting up after the show!!" stated II Face about the girl's debut. "The girl's harmonies are bananas; it's what won the crowd over!"
This moment proved to be very rewarding for the girls. Not only is it every singers dream to hear themselves on the radio, but the girls write most of their own material which makes it even more special. "When I first heard 'All About Me' on the radio, the emotion was overwhelming." said Alisha who co-wrote the powerful mid-tempo. "As a writer you think only you can hear what type of impact or power your words hold, so it's crazy to be able to put them down and then listen to it come to life on the radio! Then to hear that it was well received by our peers and fans made all our hard work worth while!"
Stay tuned, as many other radio stations in the DC area as well as Baltimore are starting to feel the demand for the 3 gorgeous young sensations and are calling to inquire about the single. "It's time to give the public what they want!" states Teisha. "Three beautiful girls that can sing, dance, and truly put on a show." "Our goal is to bring R&B back to its prime." says Alisha. "We don't want people to only know Ménage as a good stage show and hot tracks. We're striving to write lyrics and produce music that will touch people's hearts and last generations. We want to sing about real, every day life issues. If you've ever listened to a song or maybe a whole album and said to yourself, 'Wow, I remember when that happened to me' or 'Man, I know how that feels.' That's what we want. We want to be timeless and although the current songs on the radio today are good and needed, we are here to bring that balance back to R&B."
"Right, what we want to do is appeal to the masses." interjects Kemia. "We want to make good music that DJ's can bump in the clubs, and also create songs that touch people, in any age, race, or gender. We want a teenaged girl and her mother to both pick up copies of our album because they can both relate to something on it."
With their dedication, incredible vocals and writing talent combined with their ability to move the crowd, Ménage is guaranteed to be a force to reckon with.
