Woody Myers was born in Norman, OK and raised in northeastern Colorado, where he was exposed to a variety of music at a very early age. His musical aptitude comes straight from his father – a banjo player, music enthusiast and landscape painter. Woody spent the first 13 years of his life going with his dad to bluegrass festivals throughout Colorado’s Front Range – he was the grubby kid who played all over the grandstands and made a point of visiting every artist’s tour bus to meet and gather autographs from bluegrass greats such as Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs, The Dillards, The Country Gazette, Jimmy Martin, The Seldom Scene, Hot Rize, J.D. Crow; the list goes on. “My sister played me Highway to Hell and that changed everything – I had to learn to play guitar.†Moving to Boston in the early 90’s landed Woody in the local music scene and gave him opportunities to jam with established local musicians like the late Josh Clayton-Felt (School of Fish), Billy Conway (Morphine) and Dave Alcott (Treat Her Right). “I developed a serious case of ‘twang fever’ in Boston.†His folk roots and rock experience merged to fuel his desire to play high-octane country music. Woody is currently playing guitar, mandolin and steel all over Colorado's Front Range with Steve Havens and the Mad Cow Posse, Shawn Waggoner & The Tumblyweeds and the Turn 4 band.
