I am here for Friends

About Me

Wyomingite turned Minneapolitan.

My Interests

Grain elevators, transportation, history, maps, buffalo, Montreal, hyperactivity, fussbudgetting, Cleveland Indians
I just noticed there is no separate "art" category in here; how strange. In that realm I particularly admire Louis Lozowick (and really, all those other darn Precisionists as well), Hiroshi Yoshida (or perhaps Yoshida Hiroshi), Man Ray, Kandinsky, El Lissitzky, Frank Gohlke. Also, others who I am forgetting at this moment.

I'd like to meet:

a local Sun-Drop distributor.

Music:

A fair number of things, including but not limited to Werner Muller, Frank Sinatra, Ivy, Rush, They Might Be Giants, Steely Dan, Sufjan Stevens, Charlie Barnet, Gordon Lightfoot, Queensryche, Tambuca, and Tim Deluxe.

Movies:

Brazil, North by Northwest, Zero Effect, Kicking and Screaming (the Noah Baumbach one), Roger Dodger, Rushmore, the various Coen Bros. movies, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, the two Bill & Ted films, Office Space, James Bond movies (particularly the early Connery ones)....there's probably others I'm forgetting here (the forgetfulness is a recurring theme in my profile, I see).

Television:

I don't really watch much television (though there is the inexplicable Project Runway addiction to consider). The occasional sporting event and various Adult Swim shows (Venture Bros., ATHF, Home Movies, Family Guy, etc.) also.

Books:

I always have several books going at once, mostly historical subjects or other nonfiction--although the main one at this moment is "The Code of the Woosters" by P.G. Wodehouse. Oh, that Bertie! Can Jeeves get him out of yet another improbable jam?

Heroes:

I don't know if there's anyone so heroic I adore them completely and without reservation. A lot of my friends have heroic traits I admire/envy. Theodore Roosevelt was quite zesty also...

Consarned Library Detectives

Today I got a notice in the mail from the Hennepin County Library about a book I checked out which is now overdue; it threateningly mentions the Replacement Cost of the volume, $39.95. To which I say...
