About Me

Since being accepted to Virginia Commonwealth University on a music scholarship, Allen Sleeman studied for 4 years under the instruction of T. Howard Curtis and Tony Martucci. Allen performed daily with the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, numerous Small Jazz Ensembles, and the nationally acclaimed VCU Jazz Orchestra I who appeared in Down Beat magazine in 2005. Allen received his bachelors of Jazz Performance in May 2006.In 2003 while attending VCU, Allen met the other two members of CoPilot, a Richmond based funk-rock trio playing all across Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina. Currently CoPilot performs 1-3 times per week in promotion of their newest release “On the Move”. He is currently teaching 6 days a week with almost 60 private students. Allen also instructs the drumline at Hanover High School and Patrick Henry High School, as well as teaching there privately.In 2005 Allen Sleeman placed in the top 16 out of approximately 5000 in Guitar Centers national Drum Off ’05. Winning the store preliminaries and store finals he advanced to the District finals in Fairfax, Va, where he eliminated 9 other store finalists from Virginia, D.C, Maryland, and North Carolina.
