About Me

I am first and foremost a music fanatic, but I'm also a professional recording engineer, record producer and mastering engineer of 14+ years. I have my own recording studio / mastering studio , I run a little indie pop / indie rock record label called Headphone Treats Records, and of course I also have a band which just happens to be called The Ether Family Presents... . I'm also currently composing experimental pop music for film scores and working on a solo project under the guise of The Aloha State.
Beyond music, I specialize in web application development with my language of choice being Ruby and current framework obsession being Ruby on Rails. I'm currently working on a large-scale open-source project called CAPOCUS written with RoR which will hopefully be out in 1st quarter of 2007. I'm happily married and have a beautiful little daughter and a cat. I have journals all over the damn place, so google "jimmyether" and you'll come across those. Text me. My people have over 300 emoticons for snow... soooo, HOLLA!

Currently I'm looking for indie film projects to score. If you are a film-maker and need some quirky/experimental pop music along the lines of Jon Brion or Jim O'Rourke, drop me a line. I also have a myspace page just for film work here .

BANDS:
If you are in a band in the Atlanta area and think you might want to record with me , shoot me a message. Bands looking for a label deal with Headphone Treats or wanting to discuss touring with anyone on our roster should add our label profile and drop us a line through it.

INDIE MUSIC:
I'm also interested in chatting with anyone with similar musical obsessions and desires... 'zine writers, college radio folks, other label owners, record store clerks, promo people... certainly good graphic artists (we need album artwork now and then). You know, music industry geeks.

Also, anyone who's big into web application development (Ruby, Rails, mySQL, XML, CSS) or Linux admin is cool in my book.
