Teconnaught Co Down amongst the beautiful mourne foothills was the place were Malachy Brennan was born. This magnificent setting holds some of the most breathtaking rural landscapes in the western hemisphere. And it was against this background that Malachy first developed the interest to try and capture the beauty with brush and canvas. Having spent his early years fishing its lakes, and walking the many scenic miles and fields, and woodlands with his father, his style of painting soon developed, and like the great landscape painters that style of painting became his trademark. Each painting has its own personal identity, with the beauty of the subject being captured with sweeping brush work that makes trees, their leaves, and the floating reflections in the rivers, and waters seem almost alive. His paintings go far beyond the mere picturesque. His natural ability to capture the landscape with soft, subtle, yet with very powerful attention to detail makes Malachy Brennan one of the great Irish landscape painters of his generation.
