Distinct aka Raymond John Sobczak III grew up listening to music of many styles through-out his life and was later drawn to Hip Hop/Rap/R&B more than any other genre. Influenced by everyone he heard, and not any one person, he began playing around with song writing and rapping at an early age in middle school. Finally, a few years later in Jan. of 2000 he decided to get more serious and record his own tracks. Upon that time him and J - Ali (Jamel Allen, a long time friend) decided to form a group. They started out calling themselves “Tha Yung Gunz… After a brief fall out Raymond met J - Reed aka Jason Reider (A mutually diverse artist from Erie) and started the infamous Eriez Finest. Their goal at the time was to make Eriez Finest a household name… Not knowing they were just a small piece to the puzzle in Erie music at the time. None the less a needed piece to the puzzle. They would later on find out their talents would expand and bring them to this point in the road.Distinct...When choosing a rap name, using one word that sums up his entire drive, work ethic, and originality Raymond dubbed himself, "Distinct." At first he started recording on "well-known" beats. While still an amateur, he and others realized that he definitely had talent for making and performing music. Distinct continued to record songs, gradually increasing in talent and originality. Not content with doing anything less then perfect, he began opening his recording studio to others so he could learn every aspect of music. Ever since, he has been studying every aspect of the entertainment business that he can get his hands on, including copyright laws, mixing, mastering, recording techniques, and is still recording for underground artists' at his local recording studio. He knows knowledge is power, demonstrated by his 4.2 high school GPA, and wants to gain every advantage over the next person that he possibly can! In early 2002, Distinct created his own website at www.eriezfinest.vze.com and has built a large internet following to-date with soundclick.com, myspace.com (just under 30,000 page views), and idolunderground.com. His large internet following has come from dedicated and persistent promotion and marketing tactics. Distinct’s webpage’s now receive many combined visiters every month because of his talent and intelligent marketing techniques, along with hundreds of e mails from fans and listeners. In early 2004, Distinct entered the AudioBahn Traxx competition. Though he did not win first place, he kept his head up and continued. Late 2004 Early 2005 Distinct started performing at many different local venues in Erie. As well as taking 2nd place in the "Exercise Your Praise" talent show, along with his group Eriez Finest. He is also working on releasing his 4th underground album! Eriez Finest and Distinct are now doing a lot of self-promotions with Gannon Radio WERG 90.5, as well as, a lot of internet-promotions and are talking with a couple different promotional companies in hopes to further Eriez Finest’s career! Distinct and the rest of Eriez Finest is now working on getting more shows and has many major things in motion at this time that will help further their career‘s. Distinct and Eriez Finest are more determined and willing to work harder than anyone else in this business without question. Everything they do they excel in and accept nothing less then perfection.
