About the band

Triggerfish are a 4-piece Bristol-based band currently making waves on the Bristol music scene. The band started out in 2007 gigging regularly around top Bristol and Bath venues and have been highly rated in local press (Venue Magazine, Bristol Evening Post). They recently won the Battle of the Bands 2008 held at Joe Public's in Bristol.

An "altogether very impressive" (Bristol Evening Post) live band, they offer an exciting and unpredictable display of cleverly crafted prog indie rock doused in electro-synth effects, melodic vocals and meaty guitar riffs. "These guys are worth keeping an eye on" (Live Music Scene).

Gig Reviews

"This Bristol band benefit from the unpredictable nature of their music. Highly melodic songs twist and turn in and out of prog rock and indie territory, underlaid with electronic effects and unexpected guitar solos. At times you think you are listening to Muse (Cracks In The Wall for instance) and then OK Computer era Radiohead (the epic Reality TV). They can do the simple, plaintive stuff just as well, as they showed on Made Up. Altogether, very impressive."
Keith Clark, Bristol Evening Post
The Fleece - 16th June 2008

"Swiftly up next were Triggerfish. They began their set by informing the crowd that they will be starting tonight with the song they usually close their sets with. This was a move that definitely went down well with the crowd. After an upbeat start to their set, they then put down their guitars and switched to their keyboards and synthesisers for a mellow track that was tightly executed. The rest of their set illustrated the unique side of this bands synthesised rock, elevated by strong vocals. Showing such diversity throughout their set, demonstrates just how promising this band is." (Stu Freeman and Jason Ward, Suityourself Magazine)

“…The night began promisingly enough with ‘Ok Computer’-ish Triggerfish, an emotive mix of soaring power and weary sadness. I’d guess they could find commercial success with a similar following to Keane, but they’re better than that; meatier, moodier and more Muselike when the guitarists let rip.Twin keyboards and unseen effects pedals allow for the throb and welt of their sound to morph nicely"
Mike White, Venue Magazine
"...Triggerfish are a revelation. In an age where every dissatisfied teen isn't reaching for their copy of Kid A or Jeff Buckley's 'Grace' (more predictably indulging in the vacuous hands-in-the-air faux rave escapism of Klaxons et al), they're happily unfashionable, 'Reality TV' feeling like the first day Venue heard 'OK Computer'. Entering the fray all winding twin guitars and skewed pop melodies before breaking out into a prog-pop crescendo, it's the sound of a band in full flow, happily wandering between savvy pop and all-changing experimentation. Elsewhere, 'Made Up' - while retaining their trademark epic bluster - pulls in the reins; a slow-burn torch song of some majesty, taking in wistful piano cadences and cathartic guitar stabs. And when Triggerfish clear the air in favour of simple piano and Pete Headeach's plaintive vocals, it really is star-sailing, heart stealing stuff…"
Tim Bailey, Venue Magazine
"Triggerfish appeared comfortable on stage, and clearly seemed to be enjoying themselves. All of their material consists of catchy guitar riffs and foot tapping beats. Their sound was flawless tonight from start to finish. These guys are worth keeping an eye on."

The Fleece - 10th January 2008

"A brain-rock demo of epic proportions, 'Reality TV' blends the opulent melodic rush of Radiohead's 'OK Computer' era with the funky electro of Bowie's 'Ashes to Ashes'. Entering as a melodic Indie stroll and bowing out on a prog-rock assault of thrashing drums and bass synths, this track offers the kind of intelligence much needed by guitar music"
