Music is the Message - Kool & The Gang

About Me

Dj Scott Free has been djing parties off and on for the better half of 10 years. Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, he journeyed to the Los Angeles for Architecture School at the age of 18. It was there that his already keen ear and love for music blossomed as his interaction with other students allowed him to be introduced to the awesome range of music tastes from Rock to Punk to Electronica to Rare Grooves (his dirty little secret!) and everything in-between. The word "eclectic" would probably best describe his vibe. His sets have been known to have included Quincy Jones, Kool & The Gang, AC/DC, Blackstar, Isaac Hayes, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, The Temptations, Joan Jett, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Leon Haywood, Herb Alpert, Tribe Called Quest, Run DMC, Michael Jackson, Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five, The White Stripes, Lenny Kravitz, Eddie Grant, Daft Punk, and even Randy Newman. His strengths lie in his records, and many records he has. His ability to blend the many genres of music into a cohesive blend is as refreshing as it is important. His goal is to share and educate the masses with an alternative blend to what the modern pop music culture has to offer, and in doing so bring people together. He has been a resident Dj for Black Market LA & Black Market LB for two years + and has been involved with events for JELLO, Niche Lounge, Blended, and has worked with RTEA (Reaching To Embrace The Arts: A local charity whose goal is "to enrich and inspire art endeavors for inner-city youth").
