Director/ National publicist Emma Watson grew up in Newcastle Upon Tyne, her teenage years a blur of Skid Row and Pantera gigs, embarrassing incidents at record signings and running home from school every Monday to watch a video of the previous night’s episode of Headbangers Ball. Aged 15, she told her school’s careers teacher she wanted to be a rock photographer. Cue the disappointment a few months later when the school sent her on a work placement with a man who photographed geographical landmarks… After completing degrees in Business Administration and Marketing Management at Northumbria University, Emma worked as a columnist at Newcastle’s evening newspaper until she was offered the press officer position at London-based rock label Music For Nations (Jive/Zomba). After a busy trial week which culminated in her having to single-handedly stop a fight between a drunken death metal band and a large gang of Arsenal supporters, she was thrown in at the deep-end and allocated the task of looking after US art-rockers Tool at 2001’s Ozzfest, followed by handling the UK campaign for their “Lateralus†album and tour. During her time at the label she also worked on UK campaigns for 311, Bowling For Soup and Vision of Disorder as well as international campaigns for the label’s roster of metal acts including Opeth and Entombed. After leaving MFN, Emma continued to work closely with the label as an independent publicist for Bowling For Soup before founding FifteenThree and developing an expanding roster of rock and metal acts, the majority of whom have been referred to the company by existing clients. email : emma[at]fifteenthree.com KATY DIXON Regional, Student, Fanzine & Online Press
Manchester-born Katy Dixon joined FifteenThree in 2006, initially on a work-experience placement for her degree in Music Marketing. During this time she worked on tour press for Californian pop-punks Army Of Freshmen and Canadian rockers Art Of Dying. After graduating she began working full time for the company and continued to handle tour press for Army Of Freshmen on a series of gigs with Reel Big Fish as well as the band’s triumphant debut appearance at 2007’s Download Festival. In October 2007 she worked with Mindless Self Indulgence on their UK campaign for their album “You Rebel To Anything…“ and started 2008 working with Southampton newcomers Not Advised. Katy now handles the regional press campaigns for everyone on the FifteenThree roster as well as overseeing tour press schedules and media guest-lists. Never star-struck (with the possible exception of Mr Blobby), resolutely calm in a crisis and always managing to find the comedy in the more frustrating and bizarre aspects of a publicist’s life, if they gave out prizes for the World’s Happiest Publicist, Katy would undoubtedly win it. email : katy[at]fifteenthree.com
