Artemis Fowl Movie FactsThere is very little that is certain about the Artemis Fowl movie at present. This page contains all of what we do know, including any movie updates we find out about.Miramax have bought the rights to the first 3 books..
Filming on the movie was due to begin a few years ago, but a dispute arose between Miramax, and Disney, when Bob and Harvey Weinstein left the company to start “The Weinstein Company.†This dispute delayed production for many years, but thankfully, has finally been resolved, with both Disney and The Weinstein Company now owning the rights..
Some reports suggest that another reason for the production being delayed was that the value of the U.S. Dollar fell in comparison to the Euro.
Stuart Beattie is said to be writing the script/screenplay for the movie. It was scheduled to be finished in “late 2005.†Whether or not this deadline has been met is unknown.
Casting is due to start taking place in 2006 or 2007.
Laurence Gutterman is no longer the director. There are a number of sites which have him listed as the director of the Artemis Fowl movie, but they are long-since out of date. Check out our Movie Casting page to see who the new director is.
Eoin Colfer wants to play a cameo role as a goblin. (Who doesn't!?! =D )
A boy was originally chosen to play the part of Artemis, but due to the dispute mentioned above, he grew too old to play the part. (Poor kid!).
All the fairies will be played by Americans. (I'm not sure as to why this will be done this way, or if it is actually still true, but oh well. So long as they're good actors!)
All the humans will be played by Irish people. (Well, Artemis is from Ireland, and every event in the movie which involves humans takes place in Ireland. Therefore, this is just common sense really.)
The Artemis Fowl movie will be shot in Ireland. Eoin Colfer has previously received a £1million advance on the movie from Miramax, being shot near his home in Wexford. Notably, Wexford has used as the filming location for parts of, “Saving Private Ryan,†and, “Braveheart.†Ireland as a whole has grown in popularity for movie filming, with films such as, “King Arthur†being filmed there recently, and so, theres no reason for this movie to leave Ireland!Unfortunately, “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,†was also originally scheduled to be shot in Ireland, but moved on, due to a tax problem. With the huge delay in the movie filming, no-one knows exactly what will happen, and so, this final "fact," may not be a fact after all...Artemis Fowl FanA R T E M I S A R T E M I S A R T E M I S A R T E M I S A R T E M I S A R T E M I S A R T E M I S A R T E M I S A R T E M I S Click here to make Falling Objects A R T E M I S A R T E M I S A R T E M I S
