Singer-songwriter based in Sheffield in the UK

About Me

Peter has been writing songs since his days in a proto-punk band in Leeds in the seventies. He's lost track of how many songs he's composed, but the total is 'somewhere up in the hundreds'. During the 1980's he played in The Guild - a rock covers band (a.k.a. The Guild of Thieves) - and, with Andy Scholey, in nu-folk duo Eat the Peach (a.k.a. Suburban Strum).
The highlight of his early career was when Eat the Peach played the Amnesty International 'Festival of Youth' at Milton Keynes Bowl, on a bill that included The Damned, Big Audio Dynamite, Joe Strummer and Aztec Camera.
Nowadays his music spans a wide range of styles including folk, pop, rock and instrumental pieces. He is responsible (some might say criminally so) for the 'Who Killed Johnny B?' web pages and he has also written two musicals: 'Hollywood' and 'Old King Coal'.
Since 2000, Peter has contributed songs to several productions by Steel Valley Beacon Arts - a community arts group based in Stocksbridge, Sheffield. He was musical director for the Beacon's production of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream", which had an extremely successful run in November 2006.
In 2007, Steel Valley Beacon Arts premiered 'Old King Coal', with performances to enthusiastic audiences in Sheffield, Wakefield, Barnsley and the Dearne Valley. See http://mysite.orange.co.uk/old-king-coal for more details.
