About Me

Since their debut on the label back in 2004, Manoo and Francois A remain one of France's best kept secrets. Their deadly blend of heavy Chandler-esque beats married to swathes of rich synthetic orchestration provided backrooms and main rooms with a way to play deep house at peak time before the recent rediscovery of 'soulful tech' and 'deep tech'. 'Traffic' was heavily licensed in 2005 and 'Magnetic' was the Essential Tune of Radio 1 a year later, and yet the duo remain skillfully low-key. Manoo records alone for RealTone and Deeply Rooted but together they play to their best strengths. Here, the A-side 'Today Is Tomorrow' is a fierce attack - a Carl Craig-ish heavy kick and b-line intro followed by a dense build of percussive stabs and a climactic chordal vortex. On the flip, 'Souvenir' is a seriously heavy deep house piano dub. At Cielo last week, it virtually pinned the audience to the dancefloor before garnering a wave of whistles and whoops. Enjoy a duo at the top of their game.
Le troisième maxi Manoo & François A se nomme Magnetic , chez Buzzinfly, en voici quelques mots...
STORY

Already Pete Tong's 'Essential New Tune'.
Lyon's Manoo has already stamped his authority on the deep French scene with his work as part of House supergroup, Rodamaal, and solo outings for RealTone and Deeply Rooted, but it is his work with arranger and collaborator Francois Aymonier for Buzzin' Fly that has resulted in a unique strain of emotional, synthetically-orchestrated, pulsing House that has been hard to ignore. Manoo's Chandler-inspired beats with their insistent kick drums, thick harsh hi-hats and squared off bass play counterpoint to Aymonier's rich, spectral keyboard arrangments, with the two continually ascending and descending together in dense waves of deep dance floor pressure. A centrepiece of Ben Watt's acclaimed Buzzin' Fly Vol 4 compilation, it is backed with the outstanding 'A Day In December' which rocks gently on the half-time backfoot, a perfect set-starter or closer. This is deep house at its most imaginitive yet insistent. Dance till you drop.
‘Magnetic’ comprises of a wonderful assortment of excitable synths and sounds, which would perfectly break up a layer of musical dark-matter that had gone before it.Subtlety is definitely not the order of the day here, with wonderfully brash melodies colliding with a shuffling, low frequency bass line and tightly squeezed percussive hits.On the flip, ‘A Day In December’ eases down a gear or two but is no less pretty in its delivery. An earthly soundscape of strings and piano are intertwined with intoxicating bass notes and a general feeling of warmth and fuzziness. It has an endearing, dreamy quality, which is very hard to resist. This is more akin to a day in July. Let us thank the house music gods that we have labels like Buzzin’ Fly. They keep the quality level high, and this release is at an absolute premium

PRESS & CHARTS

**NEW** iDJ / * * * * * / ' ... A really classic timeless vibe ... this is something to really raise the atmosphere.'
**NEW** DJ / * * * * / 'The one problem with electro-house is that it can be a rush of energy but completely devoid of emotion. Ben Watt's journey from deep house means that he's always got an eye on the 'feel' of a track and that's why his label is one of the best around. This is eyes-closed, lost-in-music gear that builds into a widescreen experience like seeing the sun come up. The flip brilliantly sounds like the music from the videogame Outrun.'
**NEW** M8 / * * * * * / 'Buzzin' Fly continue to supply their stock in trade forward thinking house grooves to discerning dancefloor sacross the planet with the latest out pouring from Manoo & Francois A. The French double act continue to push Buzzin' Flys modernist manifesto with a brace emotionally charged beauties. 'Magnetic' is the more peak time of the two, with nagging synths and shuffling percussion, pushing the groove and the feeling on. Whilst 'A Day In December' trawls a more introspective path, and, paradoxically enough, is bound to be a staple on the for the chillaxing massive White Isle in June, July, August and ... you get the picture.
