VATICAN X-RAY DEPT began life in 2004 at the legendary Kingsbridge Experiment. It was then a two piece comprised of Matt Lord on guitar and Muzz on drums. For their next gig Kordian 'Krankenkraut' Tetkov took over on drums and Mark Greenwood joined on Bass. A gig happened with Greg ..board but that didn't work out, then Nick Grew came in on that gap and added electronics to the artillery. Around this time SOLID RUBBER BALL was born from a gig at The Cavern in Exeter. This track was later featured on the Samuel Beckett Centenary Album BEND IT LIKE BECKETT. Time moved on and familiarity bred a set list. The band started practicing. From dodgy demos crafted by ML and Greenwood the GIMP MASK album errupted. This marked the beginning of the band's fetish period which they saluted by staging THE ORIGINAL INTEREST NIGHT at the Royal Seven Stars Hotel in Totnes. This was a night of glittering ugliness. Drawn in by this bent Alice Kemp joined as second guitar. Playing alongside laptop heavyweights at the Sonic Arts Network Festival in Plymouth sent the band on a right bender and this spelled out the end for VXD. It was a rocking gig but it was downhill from there since the band's next gig was cancelled before it happened due to insiduous rumour and general bourgeois fascism. The gig was replaced by a parody performance in a dark room where the band dressed as chavs and argued among themselves.
