Born in 09 October 1978 in Istanbul, Ozan Erkan started music with mandolin at the age of 12 when he was studying at Istanbul Erkek Lisesi. One year later he was drawn to the beauty of 6 strings. After one year practice with his classic guitar, he decided to express himself with electric guitar. After high school, he entered Bogazici University where he spent 5 years studying Industrial Engineering. During his second year there (1998) he met his respected guitar teacher Mustafa Dönmez who tought him every basics and more about musical theory and performance techniques for all kind of music. After getting the idea of real good music, in 2002 Ozan Erkan decided to quit Bogazici University and entered Yildiz Technical University to study jazz guitar performance. Within years among YTU, he built up many bands with his friends from and out of school. He played his own compositions with his progressive fusion trio "OEM" in Istanbul Jazz Festival, Eskisehir Amatör Caz Festivali, Nardis Jazz Club -Istanbul. He played with many bands of different styles as rock, alternative, pop, jazz, funk, R&B professionally all around Istanbul bars. He has been playing with Turkish pop singer Rafet El Roman in live concerts in Turkey and in many countries around Europe. Recently, he was a member of the jazz quentet "Jazzmates" (www.myspace.com/jazzmates) and Turkish rock band "Pilli Bebek" (www.pillibebek.com.tr). He also plerformed original compositions fed with jazz, fusion and progressive styles open to improvisation with his instrumental trio "3 Sebep" (www.myspace.com/3sebep) that participated 14th International Istanbul Jazz Festival. He graduated from Master Study on Sound Engineering and Design (SED) Department at ITU - MIAM.
