I was born on June 3, 1967 on the island of Oahu and raised in a town called EWA BEACH. I attended all my years of school there..Kaimiloa Elementary, Ilima Intermediate, and later went on to graduate from Campbell High School in 1985. "GO SABERS" I then attended the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
I come from a family of six(6). My parents are TRASK D.K. HUDDY and LOKE HUDDY whom everyone in Ewa Beach knows as Uncle Kikau or Uncle Huddy and Aunty Loke. I have two older brothers and one younger sister. My brothers and their spouse and childrens names are: PETER & LENA (KEOLA, CHARIS, KEONI), and DEAN & MALIA. My younger sister and her spouse and childrens names are: NOEL(KEO) & JONATHAN (JOSHUA, MICAH, CAGEN REY).
I thank my Heavenly Father everyday for blessing me with such goodly parents. Parents who are so loving, caring, understanding, patient and moreso who shows such unconditional love for me. It is they who gave me life and it is they whom I thank for raising me to be the person I am today. THANK YOU AND I LOVE YOU MOM AND DAD!!
To my brothers and sister....just remember, "blood is thicker then water" and no matter how much challenges we face in life or challenges we have faced through the years of growing up together, (getting into fights, getting into trouble, laughing, crying) please know that I LOVE YOU ALL SO VERY, VERY MUCH! and I thank you for putting up
with me through the years.
To my brother-in-law and my sister-in-laws....it is such a pleasure having you in our family and I feel very honored to consider you as part of our family. I LOVE YOU ALL DEARLY!!
To my darling niece and nephews....you are the future and I will love and support each and everyone of you in every which way I can. Listen to your parents, obey the rules and most especially know that you are loved. AUNTY LOVES YOU VERY MUCH!!
Much love goes out to my husbands family also, whom till this day I am so proud to be a part of. The BALINO'S, MAHOE'S, GONSALVE'S, CLARKS...I LOVE YOU ALL DEARLY! To my father-in-law, GEORGE BALINO JR., I love you dad and I thank you for all that you do for us. You are a man with such a big heart and I'm so proud to call you my "dad" too. To my mother-in-law NAOMI K. BALINO (CLARK), R.I.P. mom and I love and miss you dearly. Till we meet again, God Bless.
I love my "SPORTS!" I practically grew up at ball parks and gymnasiums. My parents were great athletes themselves and moreso coaching legends for years especially at Campbell High School. Since the 1970's, they have been coaching at Campbell High School. They took their softball team to many championships, and I'm proud to say that my "mom" is still there at Campbell High School with the sports programs. "GO MOM, GO!!
Both my parents went from softball, to volleyball, to basketball, then mom went to track and even boy's varsity football. "YOU'RE THE BEST MOM AND DAD!! GO GIVE-UM WITH THAT SABER PRIDE AND SPIRIT!" MOM, I TRULY HONOR YOU FOR ALL THE HARD WORK YOU PUT INTO THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM THERE AT CAMPBELL HIGH SCHOOL...AND YOU'RE STILL GOING!!
As for me, aside from hula dancing since the age of three(3), sports has become a big part of my life also. I've danced hula professionally since the age of three (3) with the late Kumu Hula..John Pi'ilani Watkins. We were the original cast to have opened up Germaine's Luau over at Campbell Industrial Park. I have performed at many places such as Hilton Hawaiian Village, Hale Koa Hotel, Ulumau Village, Sea Life Park, etc. In fact I started even teaching hula at the age of about eleven(11) or twelve(12). While doing performances at Sea Life Park, I was chosen as the only Keiki hula dancer to go and perform for a month in Japan. That was a great experience for me...especially to have traveled to Japan at such a young age. (9 years old)
Then there was my sports. Basketball, Volleyball, Softball and Track is all the sports I have participated in while growing up. I have achieved high honors in sports throughout my elementary, intermediate and high school years of school. Even while participating in outside leagues. My years at Campbell is when I succeeded the most. Not to brag or anything like that, but it's something I will always be proud of. I had gotten honors such as ALL STAR PICKS FOR VOLLEYBALL, BASKETBALL AND SOFTBALL, BASKETBALL MVP OF THE YEAR OIA WEST DIVISION 1985, NISSAN HALL OF HONOR 1985, STATE OF HAWAII ALL-STAR PICK TO TRAVEL AND PLAY BASKETBALL IN JAPAN, STATE HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL ALL-AMERICAN, CAMPBELL HIGH SCHOOL FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR 1985, MR. & MISS ATHLETE 1985 (HOSS ELECTION), and of course many outside league recognition in women's softball. (Both fast pitch and slow pitch)
*Don't believe me....look it up. James Campbell High School c/o '85
It was through sports that I was able to attend the University of Hawaii at Hilo and play for an "all time ALL-AMERICAN player and coach" SHARON PETERSON. I had gotten a "full" scholarship for volleyball and was happy to have brought home the NAIA Championship Title in 1988-89. It was also an honor to be able to travel to many states to play in competitions against other colleges. I was also able to travel to Japan again for my high school volleyball team. After four years of volleyball at U.H-Hilo, I was given the opportunity to play college Softball. What an honor, and what an experience.
Much thanks is given to not only my parents, but also to a very close and dear cousin/aunty in-law of mine, JOYCE "KAPUAALA" KAAPUNI. She was a "STAR ATHLETE" herself. She graduated from Radford High School then later went on to play for the University of Hawaii at Manoa Wahine Volleyball Team coached by Dave Shoji. She was a "HIGH SCHOOL STANDOUT" and later carried on to become an "NCAA ALL AMERICAN" for the U.H. Rainbows. Then came her participation with the "U.S. OLYMPIC TEAM 1976-'77 & 1979-'80" She was also inducted into the "HALL OF FAME" for the University of Hawaii at Manoa. I speak highly of her cause it was she who gave me motivation to excel in volleyball. I wanted to be just like her. In fact, it was an honor to be able to follow her in her career of volleyball. She took me to her games at Radford, she took me to my Hula performances, I followed her through her games in college. I loved it.
Along with my parents, she is my "IDOL", she is my "HERO", she is my "MOTIVATOR" but I'm mostly proud to say that she is my "COUSIN/AUNTY IN-LAW!!" I LOVE YOU JOYCE...VERY, VERY, VERY MUCH!!
Today, we now reside on the island of Hawaii (the Big Island) in a town called Waimea (Kamuela). We have been living here for three(3) years now and we love it. We were fortunate to have met a lot of loving and respectful families that has made us feel welcomed here on the island. A lot of people we came across and met have either known us from before or knows of our immediate families. Alot are even family members of our own. The Huddy's, Dudoit's, Duvauchelle's, Mocksing's, Kenui's, Ka'apuni's, Clark's, Balino's and I'm pretty sure there's a whole lot of other families out there whom we are, in one way or another, related to. Thank you friends and families on the Big Island for all your love and respect showed to me and my family.
My husband works for Hawaiian Cement, my oldest daughter Jaycielyn is in 9th grade and attends Honoka'a High School, my second oldest daughter Gieani is in 2nd grade and attends Waimea Elementary, my two youngest daughters Kasten Blu and Kiara stays home with me. Yes, I am a stay
home wife and mother but I enjoy every minute of it. I don't know how any of you feel, but raising children of your own is the hardest job a woman (mother) or even a man (father) could ever have. It can be frustrating sometimes due to lack of rest, or stress related issues, to where you just wanna get out and "vent" a while, but it is such a pleasure to be able to see your child take their "first step", say their "first word", see their "first smile", get there "first owie", sing their "first song", sing their "abc's", count their numbers, use the toilet, or just basically prepare them for school and to teach them how to be able to face the real world which we live in today. That basically is my "full-time" job. Then there is my "part-time" job, and that is coaching.
Through all my years of playing sports, and through all the years of great accomplishments in sports, I feel that the least I can do, even though I'm still playing sports, is to pass on the knowledge I have to our future generation. Our children and every other child out there whom, till this day, loves to play sports. That's where my coaching abilities come in.
I have coached Campbell High School Girls and Boy's Varsity Volleyball for over five(5) years and I have coached Campbell High School Girls Softball for one(1) year, right after my parents resigned from the softball program. Now that I reside on the Big Island, I was offered to be an assistant coach along with head coach Sharon Peterson for Girls and Boys Varsity Volleyball over at HPA (Hawaii Preparatory Academy). Thank you Steve Perry (Athletic Director), Sharon Peterson (my U.H.-Hilo volleyball coach) and members of Hawaii Preperatory Academy. "GO KA MAKANI'S!!"
I have also been asked to take on the head coach position for the Girls JV Basketball team over at Honoka'a High School. Thank you Keith Tolentino (Athletic Director), Lane Guzman (head coach for Girls Varsity Basketball ) and members of Honoka'a High School. "GO DRAGONS!!"
Aside from high school coaching, I also help coach a ten(10) year and under coed volleyball team for NONAZ Volleyball Club. Thank you Jenny Fernandez, Dane
Maikui, Nikki Reynolds, Brad Fernandez and members of NONAZ volleyball club.
To me, it doesn't matter who or where I coach. All I'm there for are the kids. They are our future and it feels good to be able to coach them and help them to know that "anythings possible". I love working with these student/athletes, I love the respect and support that they all give me, I love the respect from the parents of these student/athletes, and most especially, I love the fact that whether on or off the courts....I am still very well respected by all as "coach" or "aunty". I LOVE YOU ALL, I'M THERE FOR YOU ALL IF EVER NEEDED, AND I THANK YOU ALL FOR ALLOWING ME TO BE YOUR COACH, YOUR FRIEND AND YOUR AUNTY. Best of luck always in all that you choose to do...just be sure to make the "right" choices.
I LOVE MY FAMILY....I LOVE MY FRIENDS....I LOVE KIDS....I LOVE SPORTS....I LOVE TO SOCIALIZE....I LOVE BEING LOVED AND RESPECTED....I LOVE MY LIFE!!!
