SWORD The PROPHETIONAL

So, you want to know about SWORD? The short spit on this cat is this. He’s from Columbus, Ohio (originally). His age is in the heart not the body, but if you want to know when he’s going to rest ask God and don’t tell him. If I had one word to summarize him… real. Dude is genuine people. So much so, that he told me to write this as if we were chilling with people he wanted to meet and everything was informal. So excuse my slanguage because truthfully, it’s how this cat wants you to know him. When I looked at his resume of artists he has shared beats and stages with, it’s pretty impressive. He rattled off a bunch of heavy weights then said, “Don’t put that in my bio. Just put in there that I share beats and the stage with Jesus.” Of course being the practical writer that I am, I tried to persuade dude to add that experience. He boldly and respectfully refocused my pen by standing on this statement. I love everyone I’ve done music with, but now I give God the glory in this. I actually got him when he said that, and it was cool. I did tell him that I had to talk about some of his recent projects. For example “The Parable of Talents” his freshman spiritual project was hot. “Forecast” on the project actually reached #1 on a well known Christian hip-hop internet radio station. Also, “Talents” on the “The Parable of Talents” as well reached the top 15 on the same station. What I like about dude is he’s humble enough to act like the accolade is nothing. When I say “nothing”, I don’t mean lack of appreciation “nothing.” I mean “nothing” as if I’ve got to get better “nothing.” You know, like the quote “You ain’t seen nothing yet!” I’ve had a sneak listen to some of the new things God is doing in him and I would agree that “We ain’t seen nothing yet!” I told you to excuse my slanguage. SWORD has been busy to say the least. As a member of the “Prophetionals”, as a solo MC, as a record exec, as a husband, father, son, relative, and friend he has a lot on his plate. I didn’t even mention his 9 to 5. I told him he needs to put samples of his new work up so that people can hear his growth. He just smiled and said, “…you think so?” Trying to respect the art of writing and respect the art of individual, I am still trying to figure out if I let you in his world.
