Influences: AL MCKAY: Funky, spiritual and a real friend. Al has always been an inspiration. Oh yeah plays a mean guitar too! Has written classics for EWF and many others. His generosity still amazes me. EWF not the same without him.CURTIS MAYFIELD, One of the most talented, humble and socially conscious artist ever. His music continuess to inspire and motivate me.ERNIE ISLEY:The most underrated guitarist/songwriter in the world. Ernie not only plays excellent and inspired lead/rythm guitar. Most don't know he can sing his butt off too! He's the funkiest. His CD HIGHWIRE is a hidden gem.DETROIT JR: My oldest brother. Who was a great and noted blues pianist, entertainer and songwriter."BIG" GLEN GREYHOUSE (a great guitarist that lived next door to me in Chicago and would let me come over and play with him when I was a kid...Thanks Big Glen!)LT. COL. SAMUEL L. GARROWAY: A great man and a musician himself. He gave me the opportunity to Play in the 36th Army Band and go to the Armed Forces School of Music. (which turned out to be I thought. One of the most racist places in the world. The truth hurts, but you'll get better.)NORMAN BROWN: Don't be fooled! Norman's jazzy, but truly funky as well. Norman got me started in live audio engineering. I placed my first song on his first CD on Mo'Jazz and I got him started singing. He continues to show me that anything is possible with hard work.
Sounds Like: Every artist I've ever listened to: Curtis Mayfield, Eddie Kendricks, James Taylor, Cameo, Funkadelic,The Beatles,Confunkshun, The Bar-Kays,1910 Fruit Gum Company,Paul Revere & The Raiders, The Crykle, Paul Simon, Detroit Jr, CSN&Y,EWF,Leroy Hudson, Enchantment, Five Special, Richard Thompson, The Toni's, Rahsaan Patterson, Rafael Saadiq. I sound like all of them and none of them at the same time...it's magic!
