Fall of 2006 is the first semester that the new Live Sound/Sound Reinforcement Certificate is being offered at South Plains College in Levelland, TX.We are so excited to be the first community college in Texas to offer this certificate. We believe that this will help make it a more respected career option that can offer a satisfying way to make a better living for those that are passionate about Live Sound.You can also receive an associates degree in Sound Technology from South Plains College. This is focused primarily on recording. You could stay 5 semesters and get the associates degree and the Live Sound/Sound Reinforcement Certificate.We have amazing facilities at South Plains College that allows students to receive training on industry standard equipment. Here's a sampling of brands & models.The FOH console in our performance venue the Tom T. Hall is a Midas Heritage 3000 48 frame console. Processing is from BSS, Drawmer, Eventide, Yamaha, and TC Electronic. The FOH audio system is made up of EAW KF650z's, EAW SB1000z's, and JF200e's (front fills) all powered by Crown Macro-tech amplifiers. System management is provided by a BSS Soundweb London Blu 16. The monitor system is made up of an Allen & Heath ML4000 console with BSS Soundweb London Blu 80 processing. All monitor enclosures are EAW SM200's that are powered by Crown Macro-tech 2402 amplifiers. Mics and di's are from Audix, Shure, AkG, Sennheiser, BSS, Klark Teknik, Countryman, and Radial Engineering.In the live sound lab you'll find products from all of these same companies and more. Yamaha, Soundcraft, Ramsa, and Mackie consoles. Processing from DBX, Rane, Ashly Audio, Yamaha, and Presonus. Amplifiers from Crown, QSC, Carver,and Lab Gruppen. Speakers from Meyer Sound, JBL,and EAW. Smaart acoustic analysis software is also used and taught extensively.The touring system is made up of EAW LA series speakers that are all QSC powered. A Midas Venice is used for the FOH console for the touring pa. Processing is from XTA, BSS, Klark Teknik, Presonus, Yamaha, TC Electronic and Behringer. The monitor system is driven by an Allen & Heath GL2800M monitor console into 10 mixes of Shure PSM 600 IEM's. EAW SM122e's and SM200 wedges powered by QSC Powerlight II amplifiers. Klark Teknik eq's are used for all mixes. Snake systems are all Whirlwind. Mics include Shure, Audix, Electro Voice, with di's from BSS and Countryman. We also have many wireless systems from Shure and Sennheiser.
