About Me

Guitar player with Slims Cyder Co. Occasionally to be found playing guitar for the delectable and very unique "MISS COOKIE & THE CUTTERS" along with my buddies Danny Howard and Phil Polecat. Supplying good rockin' R'N'B. Keep looking out as there are more shows on the way. Before that was in Shout Sister Shout with Lyn Boorer, Chad Strenz, Brian Nevill And Pete Farugia. I took over from Dot on guitar and had around a year and a half with a lot of fun. Spent a very consturctive while in the company of the fabulous Carol Neen (singer/songwriter) writing songs for a band featuring one Martin Deegan and some other fine musicians. Sadly a lack of knowledge on my part and frustration of where to push the thing lead me to leave one of the finest vocalists I have and am likely to work with. Oh, hindsight!! Immediatly before that I was one quarter of Howlin Wilf & The Veejays for almost four years I think (see James Hunter). Taking over from Dot (see a pattern forming here. oops just need to wipe the proxide off my eye lid!). We had Boz Boorer managing us and got to see and play in many far off lands! I still see a fair bit of Keith the drummer who plays in Deacon Jones and the Sinners up in the North East. Check them out. I had the pleasure of recording and producing four tracks for Praise The Lard along with Boz Boorer as well as playing the guitar licks for Skaravan which were recorded in my kitchen a week later! There are some Wilf &VJ recordings around somewhere probably taking the rock out of an uneven table I suspect. "We were by far a better live band than on recording" is how I like to console myself! But check out the James Hunter stuff as it has been too long coming. He is now enjoying the well earned adulation and respect that is long due. I also get the chance to do some Polecats shows if Boz is doing the Morrissey thing which is always a pleasure and made to feel very welcome which is much appreciated in such a daunting position (that old Boz is a bit good!) It also gets me up on stage with my old mate Johnny Bucks which is great. I also used to be in an R'n'B band called the Hoods around '83 (named by Bill Hurley and featuring his cousin Martin Jenkins on vocals). The band featured the multi talented Boz Boorer ..s, Harp, sax and opening bottles with his teeth mostly in the key of B. What else? John and I have experienced some magical moments along the way including seeing john swing a guitar over someones head for trying to destroy the p.a and having a girl accidentally relieve herself in front of us! Hey,One mans meat... Cheers for reminding me JB. There is also some ska tracks begging to be completed featuring Brian Nevill on drums, Orlando Shearer on upright bass, Myself on guitar and the very lovely Wendy May on vocals. Just got to finish the orchestration and see how they fair. more on that as time progresses. Generally I'm found to be running a business. Personal driver for Mike Collins when in the UK. Looking at guitars I can't quite afford, Buying amps & pedals I still can't afford and raising my two beautiful daughters with my lovely wife. Hey, behind every succesfull man there's a woman raising her eyes! Success... .....it'll come in it's own time! Cheers!!!!!!!!!
