6 MUSIC HERE COMES THE BIG FELLA.I am a stand up comedian fired by the inspiration of a breed long gone. I began my comedy roots growing up with the banter of South London Social clubs and boozers.
I used to watch in ore as my grandad told tales to pubs of people, not on stage but at the bar intermate like. He'd tell true stories everyday tales, stories of his experiences in WW2 and some out right pork pies no matter what he'de talk about folk would laugh.
I began to emmulate him in the playground and during lessons at school, it was then he gave me an invaluable piece of advice.
"Son, everything is a funny story just lend it enough bollocks to get the people going. You see everyone loves a fool nine time outa ten same story your telling happened to everyone else your telling, only difference is they don't wanna look foolish."
Now my grandad was somin' of a hero of mine, so I took this advice straight to heart. Everytime anything happened to me that was atouch different I would take the story and embelish it as much as I could. Add characters, change destination's anything to make it funny, and if anyone querried it,
"It's true I swear on ya life."
A couple of years ago I was pushed in the direction of stand up comedy, although nerve racking as it is, it has proved to be a chance to talk non-stop. Bullsh***ing as much as you like and not having to swear on anyones life afterwards. Which in turn has stopped everyone I know blaming me everytime someone has a little "accident". It has however led me to ramble much like this and if I had one of those dictaphone things I could go on forever, I'll rap up.
Now my grandad much like the places he'd drink and the people he'd drink with, are long gone now. Everytime I get on stage however I think of him.Sitting at the corner of the bar supping back a whisky, folk laughing all around him. He used to say when people asked where his stories came from, "Its just the way it is, this is what I do, its who I'am!"
