.......I remember Gram singing Ella and Sarah around the house....I remember me singing along to all of Mama's albums; Marvin Gaye and Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight and Smokey Robinson, Angela Bofill and Phyliss Hyman, the Legendary Prince and the Great Stevie Wonder. See Stevie was my favorite, of course because I was named after his song 'My Cherie Amor'(traces of my personality are found within that song) Stevie touched a nerve with me, his insightful lyrics and sweet melodies.....Soul music would be my destiny. However, it was the rhythmic sounds of Kurtis Blow and The Sugar Hill Gang that captured my greatest attention...... Hip-Hop had taken root and it was not letting go! So secretly I memorized and recited the lyrics to KRS-One, Rakim, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Salt-n- Pepa. I wrote poems and rhymes to the latest Hip-Hop songs(occasionaly sharing them with my brothers) In the late 1990's, I began frequenting a local club, The Blues Oasis. Tuesday nights were Hip-Hop and open mic nights. A friend and fellow MC, TA da Wiz encouraged me to rhyme...... I was too shy back then(I know my peeps are like, "too shy?!! yeah right!!" back THEN I was)It wasn't until TA was killed that I gained the courage to get on the mic (R.I.P. TA)....... Thus began my love affair with the mic, the DJ and Hip-Hop music. Soon after the Blues closed down, local B-boys known as BootKamp began hosting open mic at the Taste Lounge. There I explored the art of battle rappin( mami was pretty good too! ..... ask Fidel and G Murry!) Although Hip-Hop was my first love, I became more serious about writing after a friend asked me to write a song for her wedding.......I was amazed with the results of what passion and focus could produce........it's been a wrap ever since. I'm not gone lie though........I confess......I haven't been the most faithful....... I fall in and out of love with this music......so what now????..... quit or committ????? ......Ya'll.......I give in.......I committ.....cause.....it....won't....let....go!! So here I am......... "Miss. ShereeAmore"........I hope I've given you a glimpse into my heart and mind. Yet, all that you've read still doesn't reveal the many layers of the this writer/B-Girl/MC/Songstress/Child of the Most High God.............
