About Me
musician / producer
Nico Lombardo known as a human rhythm machine started playing drums at the tender age of four.
During his child period Nico learned the basic drum techniques and developed an individual style. It must have been 1979; the radio was playing Giorgio Moroder. Giorgio’s electronic sound frenzied Nico. From then on electronic music became an important influence in his musical development. He was 15 years old when he began to work as a party deejay. He spinned the future sounds of that moment: Front 242, Neon Judgement, The Klinik, Talk Talk … During this period Nico started playing in his first pop group. After a while he had to quit deejaying because he was constantly on the road with the band.In his early twenties Nico worked as a studio and live drummer for several Belgian and Dutch bands such as Axelle Red, Ashbury Faith, Noah Howard, Jo Lemaire, Pop in Wonderland, Rene Froger, Peter Koelewijn Rosehip and many more.
During the end of 1999 Nico bought a second-hand computer and began to mess around with a midi-keyboard and an E-mu sampler. At that very moment the magic began. Nico started to work in his cosy studio, producing work and sound appeared to be very unique. After a few years Nico became a member of the Wally’s Groove World family and cooperated with other producers. In 2002 he joined Mayaku, a live deep house-project from WGW, as their percussionist. They already played at several festivals in Europe, for instance ArezzoWave in Italy, Dour Festival in Belgium, several clubs in France, Germany, Holland and Ukraïne.
label: Beats Foundation
The post-industrial setting of Northern Antwerp is the ideal setting for a new tech house revolution. For those gravitating towards more esoteric clubs, the sound of Beats Foundation is not some fancy tech/electro house music but a tasty fusion of different genres. Initially it’s difficult to pinpoint what makes Beats Foundation so special. Is it the production, which often floats from stomping tech house into intelligent deep house? Or is it that underground philosophy with a twitch of DIY entrepreneurship? It is definitely a new sound that breezes through the tantalising world of electronic dance music.
In brief, Beats Foundation encompasses house as a whole, making forays into more progressive, dub, electro and deep house. Moving dance music from one end to the other, energizing dancefloors and influencing other producers and deejays is their main mission. Beats Foundation constantly pushes the boundaries of musical and artistic creativity forward.
