Way back in 1993 in Stockholm four close friends with a common passion for the most brutal death metal decided to put together their own personal tribute to the sounds that inspired them to play. The four guys in question were Rickard Cabeza, Matti Kärki, Uffe Cederlund and Peter Stjärnwind.
Due to each member being busy with their own main bands, early stages with the band were not that active. From time to time the four of them would meet up to jam on old Autopsy covers and throw a few ideas around and by 1996 they had managed to gather about a half dozen original songs and even played a couple of times locally. But as mentioned, prior commitments stood in the way yet again and as serious as they all were about making Murder Squad a reality, their main bands had to take priority.
In 2000 the time was finally right for the reanimation of the dormant beast! Over the course of two intense and very focused weekends at Das Boot studios in Stockholm and with a good friend (Putz Weck) as engineer the band finally came to fruition as they layed down "Unsane, Insane and Mentally Deranged" in a haze of dope smoke and beer as a tribute to the originals. On hearing a rough master of the album Pavement Music snapped up the chance to release this modern death metal masterpiece.
Later Murder Squad signed to Threeman and in 2003 the band released their second album, "Ravenous Murderous."
