ROCCO

About Me

At one point an aircraft mechanic and a car salesman, KTU's Rocco ventured into the broadcasting field in 1981, landing his first on-air gig at WSUS in Franklin NJ. After various on-air stints at radio stations in NJ, MD, Hartford & Philly, his big break came in 1983 when Scott Shannon called him to come back to New York to work for him on air at Z-100. He spent the next 6 years there under the name Joe Davis. In 1989 he joined 103.5 WYNY where he was the overnight personality known as Joe Marino. After working at other radio gigs he re-joined the 103.5 frequency In 1996 along with fellow Z-100 alumni Hollywood Hamilton & Diane Prior on what was now the New KTU.
Until recently he was heard weekends & filling in on the overnight shift, when new PD Rob Miller "re-discovered" Rocco & assigned him to weekend afternoons. "I guess you could say Rob made me see the light... literally!" says Rocco. You may also recognize his voice from numerous TV & radio commercials & has appeared on ABC-TV's "One Life To Live". A vegetarian & avid animal rights advocate, he has emceed Fur-Free Friday rallys in NYC with celebrities Bob Barker & Laura Dern, & does volunteer work for local animal shelters & greyhound protection organizations. He also has a passion for high-performance cars & motorcycles, participating in auto crossing events & the car show circuit. When he's not playing DJ on the radio, you can catch him playing with his Corvettes & Harleys & his 2 rescued greyhounds AJ & Ace.
Listen to Rocco Saturdays 6-10pm & Sundays 8pm-12am.
