Noel Rhoads - Drummer - Lead Vocalist - Full time musician and drum instructor, When I'm not playing I'm playing, And when I'm not doing that I'm writing and recording my own music. I have my own studio and mainly use Cakewalk to track, I also Play Guitar and bass which is nice for laying my own tracks without having to track down other musicains, But Drums "And women" Are my first loves,
Now, I love to write and record but there's NOTHING like that LIVE energy!
I received my first drums when I was two years old as a joke to my parents from a friend and I banged on em' until they tore up, When my folks tried to trash em' I pitched a bitch fit and from then on I have never looked back. As a matter of fact I don't ever remember NOT playing.
My introduction to music was between my Mothers Elvis Presley Albums and my Grandmother old Jazz and big band albums, Once I was old enough to purchase my own albums it was KISS, ACDC, ZEP, RUSH, And from rush I just went strait into ANY progressive ROCK/MEATL I could find, Then I found a Band out of Texas called "WATCHTOWER" that completly changed my veiw on how to aproach my instrument with abstract eyes. I am currently studying all the old Jazz greats and even the new ones, Dave Weckl is pretty amazing. I enjoy playing Progressive Metal, Jazz, Funk & Rock but have been steeped and have played almost everything from Country, Bluegrass, Top 40, and even Glam Rock "Yes, I was proudly a member of the 80's Glam Rock HAIR METAL era, And would do it all over again at the drop of a hat.
I've had the privilege of playing with some very talented astist and have tried to learn as much as I could from each as well as feeding off all their fire surrounding me. I've spread my wings just about all over the Southeast and including giging outside the US in Cancun & Cozumel Mexico, and a couple of differnt locations in The Bahamas
I teach at ROCK BOTTOM MUSIC in Augusta Ga. & Aiken South Carolina five days a week and play gigs on the Weekends with my current band SOUTHROADS
In which I am also the lead vocalist, which seems to be the case in just about all my ventures.
As you can see in the Pics, I love a big kit as the pallet of sounds in this world is un-ending and I try to capture as many as I possibly can within reason, Buy on Jazz gigs I do use the standard 4-piece set up.
Ok, enough rambling, Check out the slid show for kewl pics and I will be posting a gear list in the blog section soon.
