G'day All! Welcome to My Space...
The Present:
I'm in sunny Sydney, Australia, with my beautiful wife and two adorable labradoodles.
We've been here since '92, when I decided to jump into a bigger pond than that of New Zealand, to spread my thespy wings somewhat. We love it here. It's worked out brilliantly for both of us on every front, and I am 'flat out like a lizard drinking' with my various acting and v/o endeavours.
For the past 2 years, on and off, I've been performing in the Australasian touring production of the stage musical "Fiddler on the Roof" , alongside the legendary Topol. We've done the show in Sydney (2005), Brisbane, Melbourne (2006) and Perth, Wellington and Auckland (2007). Needless to say, I rode the v-twin cruiser to and from Brissie and Melbourne (a total of about 5,000 kilometres), which was half the fun!
During those last two years - in between 'fiddling' gigs - I've been performing in various productions here in Sydney..."The Night Heron" at the Stables Theatre, "Terrorism" at the Darlinghurst Theatre, and "Redheads" at the Old Fitzroy.
As for film/TV, late last year I played a role in the Channel 10/Granada (UK) Television telemovie called "The Joanne Lees Story - Murder in the Outback", which recreated the now-celebrated Joanne Lees/Peter Falconio abduction, murder and court case in outback Australia....Had to employ my best Yorkshire accent for that one....
And I recently finished filming an independent feature film called "Shape", which is already attracting a lot of interest internationally, and it's still in post-production! More on that when it hits the big-time...
heh heh
Now that I'm back home for a while, I plan to stay off the boards and put my hand up for whatever other film/TV opportunities might come my way. So far, the signs are encouraging. We're mostly talking work for love, not money here, but - hey - "Nothing ventured..." an' all that, huh?
Apart from the aforementioned activity, I've been doing a whole heap of voice-over gigs for both Australia and NZ, and the corporate videos and short films keep me from getting bored - as if!
But I am (touch wood) one of the luckier ones, in an industry where a horrifyingly small percentage actually make a living without the need for a 'day job' to back them up.
After 15 years of teaching and being on a steady income, it was a major leap of faith to give it all up for the dream I had trained for waaaay back in the 60's at a drama school in London, and I'm happy to say it was one of the best decisions I've ever made (second to marrying Cathee!!).

On the more personal front, I'm a proud dad and grandad, an obsessive biker (member of the Ulysses Club and founding member of the Southern Cross Cruiser Club - http://southerncrosscruiserclub.com), a totally devoted hubby, and master (NOT!) of Whoopi and Smudge, our pair of incorrigible pooches.
Life - Still not sure about the destination, but LOVIN' the journey!!!
