Reginald “Reggie Reg” HowellFrom the Soul Productions is pleased to introduce to you Songwriter and Producer, Reginald “Reggie Reg” Howell.Reggie’s musical talents were evidenced early in his life when at the age of five he began playing on the piano, by ear, songs that he heard on the radio. Reggie began singing in the church choir at the age of six and writing music at the age of ten. It is no surprise that Reggie would develop into a producer and songwriter because of his family’s musical background. Reggie’s grandfather, a Baptist preacher, created and managed The Five Star Gospel Singers a traveling gospel group consisting of male family members. The “sisters” formed the gospel group, the Gospelites. Both the Five Star Gospel Singers and Gospelites became inspirational singing fixtures in Georgia and Florida. Another uncle plays the trumpet and performed with K.C and The Sunshine Band.During his college years at Tuskegee University, Reggie formed the musical group, “Nuface.” Although he enjoyed performing with Nuface, Reggie soon realized that his true passion was writing music. After graduation from college, he decided to devote his talents and energy to song writing and producing. Reggie says that he is influenced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Babyface, Rodney Jerkins and Joe.If every experience is a learning one, then Reggie has learned a lot. Reggie has been in the studio with writers and producers such as Van Hunt, Eric McCaine(“Twisted” Keith Sweat) Raphael Brown(“In My Bed” Dru Hill, Damian Dame, The Clemons Brothers, Alex Richbourg(“Give It To You” Jordan Knight, “I learned a lot from Alex.” says Reggie. “He took me under his wing and really let me pick his brain. Being that he has worked so close to my idols Jam & Lewis - I always had questions. Reggie is also currently working with the legendary producer James Anthony Carmicheal on The Commodores next album and Calvin Payne on his debut Lp.With sincerity Reggie declares, “ Music is a good friend, it’s always there for you and it never goes away.”
