"Kirsten Elliott (flute, alto flute, vocals, melodica, electronics) challenges audiences preconceptions of the flute's role in music, running it (and her other instruments and vocals) through guitar pedals to create a wide spectrum of jazzy, funky, strange, and dubbed out sounds. Having a big range of tastes in music, her sound can be unique and abstract, or simply warm and soulful. She has recorded sessions for BBC Radio 1 (John Peel session with Lianne Hall), BBC Southern Counties Radio (with Drei), and CBC Radio (with Bob Wiseman in Canada)."
My recent projects include Drei (dark-all girl trio, sultry jazzy electronica, still happening in an international sense), Phloot Groove (bluesy-jazzy tunes with funky loops), Halcyon (sassy bluesy jazz), Urban Myth (free improv). I also guest, play and record now and then with other musicians, such as JFB (D'n'B scratch DJ).
I have performed in many projects in the past, including Submission Hold (punk), Web (quirky, heavy, funky, rock), Cunt (6 peice all lady improv band), Gospel Space Juice (jazz funk), Freak Beat Reactor (drumnbass-ska-funk).
I have just moved back to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (from Brighton, England), and I'm interested in starting new projects with people, so please get in touch!
