James "Butch" FordBorn and raised in Detroit, MI. I became interested in music at the early age of four while listening to the organ at church. At age eleven I got my first guitar. I started playing in neighborhood bands at 14 and got my first paying gig at age 16. That's how it all got started.Since that time I have worked at most of the clubs and live houses in the Detroit metro area. I have also been on stage with some very notable artists. Just to name a few, Phylis Hyman, Peices of A Dream, Martha Reeves, Sheila Hutchinson of The Emotions, Najee, and Alex Bugnon.Playing music has been a great experience for me, allowing me to travel to distant places and live in other cultures. Helping me to understand how people are in other countries around the world. Very important, as I try to use my gift to help unite people. To help make our quality of life better as we progress into the future!!!!!At this present time I'm in the process of writing and recording material for my first CD. In addition to keeping pace with the Prolific Players, Notorious, K'Jon and a few other good local units, I also provide my services to other artists in the recording studios in our area. I'm also a co- owner of Emcculate Publishing L.L.C. a locally based company interested in the music aspect of publishing. The Prolific Players Band is a six member ensemble that can perform everything from light to progressive Jazz, R&B, Soul, Funk, Rock, Pop and High-energy Dance music. The founder of the band, Joseph "JB" Barber, handles the business as well as the sound and lighting and is the primary male lead vocalist on top of that... whew!Other members of the group are:
Kyyah Tuck/Female Lead Vocalist
Alex Goss/Keyboards, vocals
Kenny Brooks/Drums
Tony Starr/Bass
Butch Ford/Guitar, vocalsExpert musicianship and stellar vocals combined with a vast selection of songs is why I love working with this band!Bright spots in my career include first time performances in The Fox theater, The Music Hall, Chene Park, Masonic Temple etc. Playing charity events such as Easter Seals, The Cancer Foundation, and the NAACP Freedom Fund Diner held each year here in Detroit. However, I have to say that my travels have been the most gratifying for me. Learning what life is like in other places has given me a greater understanding of my own life here at home. My recent trip to China was the most complex adjustment I've ever made... but, I made it!The music scene in China is vibrant and continually growing. I was there from the end of Jan '08 til Sept '08. In Beijing where the 2008 Olympic Games were held, there are lots of live rooms where bands and artists can display their craft. Also, artists from the west are increasing their presence in China. Major Artist such as Celine Dion and Harry Connick jr. and Santana (one of my influences) are performing there. Hip hop, techno and other genres are also well represented. So, if you like the traditional music of China or prefer something different, there is a wide variety available from all over the globe. My inspiration comes from everywhere, everything and everyone. To be honest, I never know just what will inspire me until it does. I think being open minded helps so much with the creative side of music. Ever hear airplanes or helicopters in your music? This is not a mistake because it was recorded on the runway. It is the writers way of placing listeners inside the music. Creating sounds that make you think of a place and time or an old friend you haven't seen in a long while. Sounds that span across every emotion and tug at your heart strings. My inspiration comes directly from the path I've been on all my life and the people whom I've come in contact with along the way. With God first in my life, I've been able to do things I never thought I would. Thank you all for your priceless support and endless love. For me, this is Awesome Inspiration!!!! "UNDER CONSTRUCTION" WORK IN PROGRESS!
