What is the music world in store for?
Stephan is a Singer/Songwriter/Dancer/Model/Actor born in the sweetest place on earth, Hershey, PA. There is an intangible quality that draws you to him and makes you want to know more. He possesses a persevering will to succeed, combined with a whole-hearted and a quirky sense of musicality which gives him that little spark no-one else can quite duplicate. Stephan knew he was destined for greatness, but it came with a huge price.
He found a love for singing at early age, performing in the church choir alongside years of formal vocal training. He made his television/magazine debut in Korea at the age of 7. He was featured in Living Sense Magazine, TV commercials, early morning talk shows such as “Looking for Happiness†and the "Early Morning Show" as well as multiple variety shows. After a successful childhood career, he returned back to the states to pen his first song and demo at age 12. Participating in yearly choir competitions, he soared to 1st place three consecutive times all the way through the All-State level, earning him a spot in the MENC All-Eastern Choir, comprised of the top 200 singers on the East Coast. He became the first person to reach this level of musical achievement at his alma mater and became a community star in his own right landing lead roles in his high school productions. This musical success gave him the confidence to overcome his early battles with obesity and low self-esteem.
While playing open mic nights and clubs he eventually auditioned for a spot in a year long performing tour with the Young Ambassadors around the western US, China and Korea. Upon completion of the tour, he landed a spot in the K-Pop boyband, A’Star1 in 2005. So he left his car, apt, friends, love and life behind and moved overseas. While working for DSP Entertainment, home to KPop sensations Lee Hyori and SS501, he was featured as an upcoming artist on the 2006 SS501 Step Up Asia Summer Tour and trained 12 hours a day.
At this time his songwriting really began to take off. Realizing the true value and potential of his work, he left the group. It was a great experience, but he knew there was something bigger awaiting him. He worked and perfected his craft for over a year with a solo/songwriting deal in Japan teaching himself to play piano by ear. From his basement to his trips around the world, even selling his clothes just to see his idol, Prince, perform in London, he now has a collection of over 100 original songs he has become a force to be reckoned with.
However, Stephan was no stranger to disappointment. Promised everything and given nothing in Japan, he took matters into his own hands and flew to Los Angeles with less than $100 and a bigger dream. His Japanese single, “Break Over Me†garnered him over four million hits on his MySpace Music Page, catapulting him to the number 8 Unsigned Artist on MySpace. Since then he's been a top finalist on THE JANET JACKSON PROJECT, DIDDY’S STARMAKER, AMERICAN IDOL, appeared in a Plain White T's music video, shot his own music video for "Once Upon A Time" and his signature song, "Feel" began receiving radio airplay. Virtually homeless yet happy to just be in LA, he met his manager Rudy Amezcua. Together they created the humble beginnings of REIGN. They worked around the clock to create an unprecedented concept while constantly facing set backs. Although it seemed to be the most trying times of their lives, they persisted. 16 years later, Stephan feels his work is beginning to pay off. Grateful for every twist and turn, he admits he needs to thank his wrong doers and naysayers the most. Since their major debut, A’Star1 has since ceased to move forward.
