About Me
It was inevitable that Melbourne born drummer, Lachlan
Wallace would pursue a career in music. Having come
from a musical family and taking a shining to the drums at
eight years of age, their was know doubt that this
instrument was his calling. Two years later, he
commenced lessons at school in both Drumkit and
Orchestral Percussion .
At sixteen, he discovered a love of jazz music and was
playing in as many different jazz groups, outside of school,
working with the likes of Toby Mak, Gil Askey, Lachlan
Davidson and Craig Beard. Then In 1993, he studied
V.C.E. Drumkit with Brian Czempinski, achieving second
top mark in the state and the following year moved to
Adelaide to study Jazz Drumkit with Australian jazz
drumming legend, Laurie Kennedy. After studying at The
University of Adelaide for a peroid of five years, Lachlan
moved back to Melbourne and took on further studies with
Darryn Farrugia, as well as taking lessons from visiting
international artists such as Dom Famularo and
Clayton Cameron.
Since playing professionally from the age of eighteen,
Lachlan has had the privilege of working and recording
with some of the world’s best musicians including :
Wynton Marsalis’ Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Andy
Firth, Marina Prior, Donald Cant, Mario Latuada, Dave
Palmer, Glenn Cannon, Damon Grant, Ben Edgar, Gary
Norman, Carlo Barbaro, Jo To, Ben Rynderman, The
Australian Pops Orchestra, The Ashton-Smith Singers, The
University of Adelaide Big Band with Graham Collier
(recorded by ABC Jazztrack) and Mark Levine.
In recent times he has worked with his own original jazz
fusion outfit The Lachie Wallace Band, The Phil Reichman
Trio, and toured Australia with Triple J song contest
winner, Mei Lai Swan.
