About Me

"Downstar"
We are just a bunch of guys that love playing music.
Downstar, is a band of many styles, and cant be put into just one genre after listening to all the music. The band, starting with living guitar legend Skot Pearson and vocalist Dave Pearson, began with relentless force unseen by any incomplete band, at least to my knowledge. These were the days where old songs such as Haunted Dreams, For all the Pain, Everything, Puppet and Revelation came out. They promoted the songs all over the internet, quickly gaining a crowd of listeners. As the continued to write in an unfinished two man band, with help from synthesised drums, bass, and synth, together they wrote many songs while shifting styles from heavy metal, slowly toward the industrial scene. Not intensionally, but through time lapse and taste in music expanding, the screaming and growling divided from song to song, to singing and vocal effects were introduced into the music along with the harsh in your face tell. The two man band thrived, utilizing and improving on the synthetic energy from computerized band members, jamming out and playing the music they felt like playing, staying away from particular genres, just playing to play, reguardless the requests and urging from friends and fans, many who missed the heavier stuff. But not to worry, they would never abandon the metal they still passionately love. Downstar has been through many line ups, most short and didnt work out, so didnt last.
Downstar has progressed into an incredible stretch of genre's of music, keeping the same thunder and heart, and managing to blend it all together as they explore all kinds of music from rap core, to downrite heavy metal to grunge, industrial, to even techno. Keep updated, we post new news regularly.
Regretably, the separation of guitarist Skot Pearson and vocalist/synthist David Pearson after Dave moved out to Southern Maine, has caused the band to be at pause, until Skot graduates high school and reunites with his brother. In the break time, each has started a solo project in the techno/industrial genre, even now, still honing their skills and improving their expertise in all genres of music. So we can all expect that after this reunition, the hear a blast of improvement, and an explosive release of new music, uncomparable to the old songs of Downstar. We're waiting on a musical revelation people. A two year separation, where each artist continues to grow and improve beyond what could be imagined, and when it all comes together...expect a blast!

Influences:Well, we all have our different influences, but our style is our own, which makes it difficult for us to determine which genre of music we are. Previously we concidered ourselves to play hardcore/hardcore metal music, but listening to other bands in that genre, and every other genre for that matter, showed that we didnt really belong. We judge the styles based on song order, drum style, bass style and guitar style. The guitar is smooth and rolling, easy on the ears, rather than choppy and fast like most metal bands. The drums go to the guitar, a beat for each 'strum' (for lack of a better word), and a few in between. The snare is not used as much as some metal bands who go totally crazy with it and play entire riffs with snare as fast as double bass. The bass is pretty normal i guess, but sometimes a style dubbed 'detune' is used, no band i know of uses anything like it.
So wat are we!? Tell us your opinion of wat you think we are, or if we may be a new breed. We value you input.
Well i got a little off topic there, if influences must be mentioned, I'll let the other members speak for themselves.

DAVID-VOCALS:
I was influenced greatly at the begining of my musical life by JMann from Mushroomhead. He actually got me into singing. I progressed from there and was additionally influenced by singers such as Cameron Cock from American Headcharge, Ian Truman from Dead Season, and Dez Farfara from Coal Chamber.

SKOT-GUITAR--BACK-UP VOX:

The first few years of teaching my self how to play guitar, i didnt have any influences. Later, i started really listening to the guitar in other bands. My first one was korn. Munkey and Head work their guitars perfectly to make them sing. Soon after, I heard Dead Season on MP3.com, WAY before they were even on the radio. I was really amazed at the talent in the music. Matt's riff's were more like a story book. they flow smooth and theres almost not one riff thats the same. (if you can understand that).

Sounds Like: Shit....Sweet shit. Like nothing you've ever heard before...unless you beg the differ, watever i dont care. We just play what we play. We'll make something, and we judge it on what we would want to hear in a cd, so we all like it. If no one else likes it, thats fine with us cuz we do like it, and we'll never change that for the world.
Record Label: None yet.
Type of Label: Major
