Mike Reifenberg is a saxophonist/composer/arranger currently living in the Hudson Valley area of upstate New York, 45 minutes north of New York City. He is currently employed as a saxophonist for the US Army Jazz Knights, one of three premiere Army jazz ensembles. The Jazz Knights are a smaller part of the United States Military Academy Band, the oldest continuously serving band in the armed forces (its inception was in 1802). Reifenberg also serves as a staff arranger for the band, where he has enjoyed success, including having his arrangements or compositions appear on PBS, performed by Grammy award winner Lea Salonga, recorded on the Jazz Knights most recent CD "At First Light," and performed on countless concerts.Reifenberg has also had the opportunity to share the stage in professional capacity with many of jazz's biggest names, including Bob Mintzer, John Riley, Steve Wiest, Slide Hampton, Dennis Mackrel, James Moody, Steve Houghton, David Baker, Billy Cobham, Benny Golson, Lynn Seaton, Ed Peterson, Frank Mantooth, Rob Wilkerson, and many others. In addition, he has also performed as a member of the Doc Severinsen Band, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Pops.Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and raised in nearby Cudahy, Reifenberg attended the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater, and later Indiana University where he completed his MM - Jazz Studies degree in 2005. While a student in the midwest, he maintained an active performing schedule, playing with many top bands in the Milwaukee and Indianapolis area, in addition to leading his own small group.He has been living with his wife Megan in New York since 2005. They have a dog named Dave.
