Urban Voices

About Me

Urban Voices was born out of a desire to create a fresh and unique Gospel sound, one based on traditional Gospel standards yet infused with current Gospel trends and contemporary music genres, from R’n’B, to Motown to Pop.Inspired by attending the London Community Gospel Choir workshops in 2006, Karl Willett formed a small vocal harmony group. Now with 28 members, coming from a variety of musical backgrounds from church singers to recording artists, Urban Voices continues to strengthen its musical repertoire, widen its UK audience and turn up that Gospel heat.Urban Voices performance credits include Somerset House, The Dorchester, The Royal Festival Hall, Warner Bros UK, The Guildhall Art Gallery and Old Spitalfields Market along with stage performances at The Queens Theatre in the West End and The Barbican music hall. They have produced/performed backing vocals for artists including Tony Hadley, Duncan James (Blue), Brenda Edwards (X-Factor), Simon J Bailey and electro/Gospel group Powerlight’.Intimate venue performances include weddings, churches and nightclubs throughout the UK.Urban Voices continue to work with & support a number of charities including Marie Curie Cancer Trust, The Teenage Cancer Trust, The British Red Cross, Papua Partners and RED.
