HAVIKEN HAYES BIO: Haviken Hayes-Bio “ and some say I should change my ways, but it’s hard to hear the phrase through the havoc and haze.” -Black Thought (The Roots) on DJ Krush’s “Meiso”Havoc: Widespread destruction, devastation, disorder or chaos. Haze: Atmospheric moisture, dust, smoke or vapor that diminishes visibility. Haviken Hayes: DJ/Producer that smashes & blurs the boundaries of melody & rhythm.Puerto Rican born & South Florida raised Haviken Hayes (Edwin J. Guerra) has been a DJ since 6th grade. His passion for music has continued to represent the roots of Hip Hop from his home base, Hollywood, Florida. Blending aggressive rhythms with melodic tones have become the foundation that defines Haviken Hayes. While on the 1’s & 2’s The Hayes challenges time signature, while blessing the turntables with an arsenal of classic selections. Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop & Electro influence have allowed The Hayes to endure generations. Haviken Hayes is perhaps better known for being half of the groups “Over The Counter Intelligence” (O.T.C.I.) & “Unified Styles. (US)While searching for new ways to exercise his freedom of speech, Haviken Hayes met his OTCI co collaborator “JG” (Joel Gay). Their world wise, anti- globalization stance has made them a friend to grassroots activist across the nation. From the boycott of “Taco Bell” to the human rights violations of Haitian refugees detained in the United States OTCI combined art & conviction. Collectively they’ve had the privilege of sharing the stage with artist such as Dead Prez, Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine), & Boots Riley(The Coup) to name a few. Haviken Hayes recently completed songs for JG’s debut album “Insurgent”.Soon after Haviken was introduced to Manifesto(Alberto Viera) by their loving mothers, due to their mutual love for music & Hip Hop. Once witnessing Manifesto’s syncopated approach they immediately formed “Unified Styles”(US). Since the first take their allied methods complimented each others seamlessly. “US” have been holding it down opening up for acts like Jeru Da Damaja, Masta Killa(Wu-Tang), Brand Nubian, Fat Lip(The Pharcyde), 2Mex(Shapeshifters) ect. Unified Styles is currently in the lab concoting their next union.Keep your ear to the ground for mixes by Haviken Hayes & his debut release Freight Smugglers.
