About Me

Senses Fail is a Ridgewood, New Jersey based band that draws heavily from the punk, emo, hardcore, screamo and pop-rock genres. Their main influences are Fairweather, Grade, The Promise Ring, The Get Up Kids, Thursday, Jawbreaker and Saves The Day. The band is influenced by many spiritual beliefs, which manifest themselves in their lyrics and musical themes.
Their first release, on August 16, 2002, was a six-track EP on ECA Records, From the Depths of Dreams. This was re-released on April 29, 2003, on Drive-Thru Records, with two extra tracks. Their first full-length album, Let It Enfold You, was released on September 7, 2004 on Vagrant Records. It, too, was re-released, with five bonus tracks; three acoustic versions of songs on "Let It Enfold You", a new track named "American Death" and a cover of the song "Institutionalized", which was originally by Suicidal Tendencies.
In 2005, the band's web site announced the departure, by mutual agreement, of guitarist Dave Miller. He was replaced by Heath Saraceno, formely of Midtown.
On April 4th, 2006, Senses Fail announced that they had begun pre-production on their next album, and that they would be going into the studio to begin recording on May 1st, with producer Brian McTernan. The band announced on June 16th, 2006 that they had completed recording the album, and that it is currently being mixed by Chris Lord-Alge. The album, Still Searching, was released on October 10th. There is also a deluxe edition, including a DVD about the making of the CD.
The band has played on the Warped Tour in 2004-06, the International Taste of Chaos tour in 2006. They played played a headlining tour with bands Saosin, Alexisonfire and The Sleeping in 2006. They just finished playing the 2007 U.S. Taste of Chaos Tour with bands such as The Used, 30 Seconds To Mars, Saosin, Chiodos, Aiden, and Evaline. They performed in a number of European festivals (as well as a couple of headlining shows) in April 2007, and have scheduled a short U.S. tour with From Autumn to Ashes for June. They also have announced that they will be playing the Reading and Leeds Festivals and several German festivals in August 2007.
- The band is mentioned in MC Lars's song "Signing Emo."
- The title of the song "All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy issues" is a reference to the title of an episode from the first season of American TV drama Lost.
- The song "Sick or Sane" was originally named "Crash Your Plane into a Barn". During the 2006 Vans Warped Tour, the band referred to it as ¨Fifty for a Twenty¨, which still remains as a subtitle.
- The song and album "Let It Enfold You" is named after a poem by Charles Bukowski.
- The song "Institutionalized" was originally a Suicidal Tendencies Song, and is featured in the video game Tony Hawk's American Wasteland.
