About Me

THE MUSIC SPEAK FOR ITS DAMN SELFshout out to:VILLAIN SQUAD ENT.MOONDACA RECORDSVALLEY RECORDSTHE LEAGUE Its rare in Illinois that you find a traditonal hop hop artist whos skills exceed their age standards. These rappers are considered an endangered species in the windy city. Among those few who still who refuse to give into the ora of "New Rap", Prive City is rapidly catching ears all over. Now just incase the word hasn't gotten to you and your peers yet, we have a brief discription of where he orginated and the events that brought hip hop into his life James Thonn, 19, was born in Oak Park into the typical black family but put up for adoption as an infant. Theres not too much information on his mother but it was confirmed that his father was a jamaican from kingston. Being raised in Chicago's west suburbs by caucasians exposed him to all genres of music, arts and culture. As a child he sang in the elementary choir and became quite the ideal canidate for an R & B future sensation. He naturally explored deeper into his own native culture and grew attached to poetic recitment to beat patterns (hip hop), which lead James on to writing his own lyrical material. In his earlier adolescence, skateboarding and Cadalliacs filled his mind and being a rapper was vague in his life. That vagueness began to change in the earlier 2000's at his jr. highschool in wooddale. At this time there were only two african american students attending the jr. high: Himself and a younger 7th grader from the city named Eddy Crosby who had a strong urge for success in the music business. The two eventually crossed paths and became longtime friends, partners and riavls. The Ambition in Eddy also grew in James as well causing the early metamorphic stages of vintage Prive City. Currently he is unsigned and 1/5 of the chicago based group known as the Villain Squad. Of course there is plenty more to know about the rise of this lyrical phenom but he'd rather tell you himself.

Sounds Like: "SPITTIN AINT EASY" REVIEW His most recent and Officalized Mixtape was released in 07 titled "Spittin Aint Easy". The acknowlegemt of his Jamaican backgoung was the first element to be introduced through a freestyle on the instrumental from the smash hit"Come Around". He constantly expresses the fire within him, through metaphors, similies and clever wordplay. Prive also adds a hyperbole and humourious content in his rhymes when he refers to the opposite sex being "Hooked on my **** like phonics/ got it?" and "Ima G **** the rest of the letters". The lyrical East-coast intensity remains at an all time high through out the entire mixtape and diversively expressed in various tones. From silly pink panther sampled beats to Dipset Hood anthems and Fabulous's "Breath", there is no holding back in the vocal emotion. However, there is some experimentation but its very brief in the track titled "What Up" produced by Antonio Hans Mundaca(MoonDoctor) and featured by Young Rooky. Prive City clearly holds his own from start to finish having little help and a few features from Young Rooky(chicago) and Real Talk(Elgin). All three Deliver the final death blow on the hood famous Lloyd Banks instrumental"Get Clapped". Despite the lack of original beats and production the quality is far above average. Such cases are substitued with Prive's unyielding MC skills and unflinching ability to dominate each and every track. Much more is expected of the new and improved PC but credit will be given to where is due which why 2007's Spittin Aint Easy is gratefully awarded 7.5 out of 10RatingsBeats: 3 out of 6Lyrics: 5 out of 6Orginality: 4 out of 6Favorites: What up, Come Around Freestyle, Mad rapperLadies and Gentlemen Prive City Has Done It Again!!!!! With the official release of his Sophmore mixtape and induction into the World Famous Datpiff Circuit, the slick spittin pheonum has raised the the bar standards. "Swishas and A Fifth" appears to be the appropriate name for this peice of work. as usual Prive doesnt hesitate to display that arrogant and confident swagger along with improvement of vocals and lyrical skill in "Mic Check". Gears switch up when "My dip P2" acts as a prequel for his New Single and immediately changes back to his original vibe with "Why You Snap Like That" co recited with producer Dakota adding his two-cents in as well. Finally the best is not the last, *My Dip* is delivered as promised as track number 7. The smash hit is followed by a relevant seris Hood Anthems and Club Bangers: "Stunna Dance, Get Like Me, Do This, and Lets Get It" with the overkill assistance of Villainsquad members Rooky and Chosen1. Cleverly, Prive cools down the record with the unexpected rapid lyrical machinegun flow on Striaght Geeked followed by an unreleased throwback(Hold You)that nevermade it onto his last mixtape. Swishas and A Fifth would recieve a 6 Due to there only being 6 original beats out of the 13 tracks the mixtape is penalized but with the induction of his Datpiff Status and 1st Commercial Single "My Dip" combined with few features on the mixtape we find it obvious that it deserves a 7.2 out of 10. Congratulations PC!!! And Keep Up The Great Work VillainsquadRatings _______Beats:3Lyrics:5.5Orignality:3Favorites: My Dip, Do This, Come On Den, Striaght Geeked
