Kaliber was formed by the two brothers David (drums) and Donald (guitar) in 1999, with Mattias Wänerstam on bass. They made a few songs and recorded them instrumental.
Then in 2002 when Johan Gummesson moved to Gothenburg from Karlshamn where he had been vocalist in a hardcore-band called Setback, he joined Kaliber and they started to put lyrics to their songs, they recorded vocals on 7 of the already recorded songs and that become the first demo called “Kaliberated Aggression!†released in 2003.
A short time after that Mattias realized that what he actually wanted was to play guitar and not bass, so Kaliber took in Robert Fogelström as a new bassplayer and had now 2 guitarists.
This setting didn’t last very long since Mattias after just a short while as a guitarist choosed to entire quit Kaliber and instead staking all time on his other band Within Y, in which he also played bass, which had signed a deal with Karmaggedon Media and soon was going to release their debut album.
Kaliber continued to play live and write new songs and in 2005 they released the 2:nd demo called “Another Death Gripâ€, this one like the first produced by Mattias.
Both “Kaliberated Aggression!†and “Another Death Grip†got good reviews and both of them was played in swedish national radio P3.
After this Robert and his girlfriend made the decision to move out of town, away from Gothenburg so there would be hard for Robert to stay in the band. Kaliber then started to look for someone to replace him and after a while they found Patrik Olsson, who used to play in a Slayer coverband. He became the new bassplayer and Robert stayed in the band for a while as a additional guitarist. Soon it was time to record demo 3 and since the songs was written together with Robert he played bass on the recording, which would be his last with the band. “Retaliate†was released in 2006 and have like the earlier got very good reviews from all magazines we sent it to. Again we used Matte as producer.
Today we are working on new material and have recently contributed on a international compilation cd, called “The Harder the Better volume twelve†with the song “Devilride†taken from “Retaliate. This cd is released by american label Turkey Vulture records.
