I'm a single parent with a great kid, Jamie .. I love being a parent, it can be the greatest reward. It can also be very challenging at times, doing it alone.

My family was in the auction biz, as well as racing standardbred horses around Canada.
I had a strange childhood, I remember standing alone in the grandstand at Stampede Park in Calgary, asking a strange chinaman to bet $20 on a horse for me. The horse made a break, never finished the race and I didn't bat an eyelash. The very next day I made $50 and went out and bought myself a pair of running shoes.
