I am here for Friends

About Me

Anyone who knows me is aware of my obsession with art. I love to paint and received a BA in art in 2006. I am a graduate student in the MFA program at American University in Washington DC. My family means a lot to me - they are the most extraordinary, talented and hilarious people I know. My boyfriend Tom is my best buddy and a genuine "good guy," which is hard to find these days. In general, I'm a fan of working hard for what you want in life. However, I do my fair share of lounging on the couch watching my favorite tv show on Thursday night. Go office! Okay, rambling...must stop

My Interests

Art, music...movies, instruments I can't play, being cynical.

I'd like to meet:

Talented individuals and artists

Music:

I enjoy a wide variety of music including Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell, Bruce Springsteen, The Shins, The white Stripes, Harry Chapin, Pearl Jam (thanks Tom), Jewel, Hanson, The Beatles, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Carol King, The Whalers, Colin Hay, Cary Brothers, Iron and Wine, Elton John, Patty Griffin, The Cure, and soooooooo much more

Movies:

I am a movie person so I've seen pretty much everything. I enjoy a good romance, a romantic comedy, a smart comedy, and occasionally a zombie slasher flick. I mean, who doesn't love an attack of the undead followed by "When Harry Met Sally?" I tend to enjoy Quentin Tarantino movies quite a bit - ya know...I think he just might be an artistic genius

Television:

My favorite TV show right now is "The Office." I think it's a really clever show and very well written. I like cheesy HGTV stuff and "What Not to Wear." It's a fun show and the hosts know what they're talking about. I enjoy "Friends" and "Seinfeld" re-runs as well.

Books:

I like to read art books - though I mostly just look at the pictures. I'm a classics fan. I might be a weirdo for really enjoying Beowulf and thinking it was hilarious. I have a great Poe book and on nights when it's rainy I flip it open to a random page and read whatever poem happens to live there.

Heroes:

People who challenge what others tell them to believe. Most great scientists began their quest by asking seemingly absurd questions. When people tell me I'm crazy, I say I know....but it's sooooo much better than being ordinary. Boo-ya mo-fo. :P

My Blog

oye...

The life neurotic

I'm really afraid one day all of the toxic chemicals I use on a daily basis will result in a medical condition.  Sometimes I wonder if my lungs are colorful after six hours of working with pastel...

I wonder...

What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore-- And then run? Does it stink like rotten meat? Or crust and sugar over-- like a syrupy sweet? Maybe...
