About Me

Born and raised Cali girl, but not the Cali most people think of...I was surrounded by farmland and cows rather than beaches and movie stars. I did my undergrad in Hawaii... loved the islands, people, culture, everything, but it just wasn't Cali! But now I am a third year medical student in L.A., finally out of the classroom and spending endless hours at clinics or hospitals. When I do have a chance to relax I enjoy spending time with friends and family, watching movies, going to the beach, and shopping. I used to teach high school and coach water polo and swimming, which was a great way to spend my transition years between college and med school. Those experiences taught me a lot about myself and others, the importance of seeing things from someone elses perspectives, that good things can happen when you just take the time to show them that you care. There are two things that really make me happy...random acts of kindess and seeing them spread from one person to another; the other is seeing someone go through "light-bulb moments"...maybe that means I'm a natural born teacher?!? I'm especially thankful for my time coaching water polo, it helped bring back my love for the sport that I had lost during my college years. I am really laid-back (as much as you can be in med school), I study hard, play hard and try and enjoy every moment!

Music:

Most anything except country, but if I have to make a list...I love Maroon5, wish they would give us some new songs though, Outkast, Black Eyed Peas, and of course Fergie always lifts my spirits, Snoop Dogg is always good when I want to be a bad ass, U2 has been a fav for pretty much forever and I must see them live before I die, Jack Johnson when I'm feeling a little homesick for the "aloha" way, never thought I'd say this, but J.T. is rockin' this year, recently that deep voice of Chris Isaak..."Baby did a bad bad thing!", and I've always liked to study with some soundtrack playing, gotta love the work of John Williams, James Horner, Ennio Morricone, John Barry, and Thomas Newton Howard. And you know what, I take back that except country...Dixie Chicks rock, especially with their political views!

Movies:

Lord of the Rings Series, Troy, Ocean's 11, Shawshank Redemption, Constant Gardener, Sweet Home Alabama, Thelma and Louise, Return to Me, Pride and Prejudice (A&E 6hr version), Remember the Titans, Hoosiers, Whale Rider, Crash, Meet the Fockers, Steel Magnolias, Legends of the Fall, Family Stone, In her Shoes, Man on Fire, The Lake House, The Departed, Memoires of a Geisha

Television:

Grey's Anatomy--gotta love that mix of sex and medicine and I want my own "Mc-Dreamy"! Lost--so damn different than every other show, and fulfills my Hawaii cravings! Amazing Race--fulfills my adventerous desires! Prison Break--Wentworth Miller, 'nuf said. ER--classic! Desperate Housewives--prime time soaps anyone! The Daily Show--Jon Stewart Rules! Home Makeover--Just love Ty (or handymen in general), but really I just love to see them helping those in need!

Books:

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, Lord of the Rings Series by J.R.R Tolkien, Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie, Bleak House by Charles Dickens, Angel's and Demons and The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, and anything by Tom Clancy (but not when it's a co-authored book), but lately all of my time has been consumed by books like Harrison's, First Aid and Step Up and Pathological Basic Principles by Robbins, etal...all you med students know what I mean!
